It's a legit rule, he should definitely be out.

Because it was going to be a bang-bang play.....the throw was intended to arrive in time to tag the player before or as he reached base.

I can't say you are wrong - but thought the throw was where they wanted it, FWIW.

Nationals got the 'last laugh' anyway by getting the HR and RBI.

Karma?

I kinda wanted to see a Game 7 anyway.

Yep, I’m calling Karma because I agree with Zeke.

How about Strasburg’s pitching? He’s had good defense behind him.

Bs.
Anyone that’s ever played the game knows that if you interfere with the throw you’re automatically out. The ball hit em in the leg because he was in the path of the throw.

The runner has a right to the base as well. When the pros are saying it was a bungled call, I’m listening to them.

Read the rules, the runner was inside the base line the entire run to 1st, the ball hit him, he's out.

Can you imagine how much revenue is lost when they don't go seven games?

Lets Go Astro! clap clap clap clap clap clap

I thought the call was sketchy, I wouldn't have wanted a win tainted by a bad call. The runner was inside the field and interfered. It was a bold call and one that could have easily been either way.
The umps put up with a whole lot from the gnats manager. Martinez mission was to get ejected and the umps just let him go and go. They finally had to send him packing.

Tonight we are treated to the best words in all sports. Game 7

Dave Martinez is the first Manager to be ejected in a World Series game since former Braves Manager Bobby Cox was ejected in the 1996 World Series... which also happened in Game 6 of the series.

Not how you do it, 1st baseman reaches toward man throwing it and stretches on that play.

Man was out, wrong side of the baseline. You can run outside the line going to first, not inside though.

As the rules are written it was a good call.

Has a World Series ever had the road team win every game?

Being lefty, I played 1st...yep, you never tag the runner, unless you're pulled off the bag by a bad throw or mebbe a bunt right on the line, but not by choice.

Yer OUT!

Judgment call. I would have called him safe. First Baseman caused the interference by having his wrong foot on the bag. If he had used the correct foot he could have stretched and avoided the interference and easily made the out.

That's the way we were taught. Thankfully this fiasco will become nothing more than footnote in the final analysis of this series.

Re fluctuating strike zone: maybe the case can be made, as some have suggested, for some hi-tech electronic
means of calling balls & strikes; on that count, I am not too sure or keen.

Game 7 - best we could all hope for & no game altering botched calls.

Cheers
JB

No. No pair of teams in baseball, basketball, or hockey has ever won the first 6 road games, let alone 7 road games.

There is no right or wrong foot...you guys don't know the rules or never played imo.. I went back and watched one more time (it was obvious to me initially). The runner was inside the line, not in the designated lane "outside"...it's there for exactly this reason .

He was out....same as it's always been.

I know how to play first base .

But I CAN use any foot I want to...the runner MUST stay inside that runner's lane, outside of the playing field, or he is out. That's the rule and always has been. He clearly was not in his lane...it's obvious
