I like the slide-out ramp from the tailgate!
That's about it.

asphaltgambler 11-22-2019 11:48 AM

Reminds me of a dude in West Va who just got an approved CC from Home depot- bought a bunch of 1/2" plywood, went home and made a 'custom' body for his 1981 blazer that's sitting near the chicken coop

Pretty much sums it up - that & Webby's low radar x-section

You know I looked at at that thing and came away feeling like they'd been telling investors they'd do a pick up, then forgot to work on it until they were asked by the investors "well, where is it?"

So they ran to Home Depot and got a bunch of sheetrock and silver paint then slapped something together in the parking lot over lunch.

Whats really sad is the worst kid at drawing in elementary school drew better cars than that thing.

My grandfather hated those "newfangled" 60's and 70's pickup trucks compared to the "good" old 30's and 40's style trucks.
Just sayin...

sc_rufctr 11-22-2019 12:40 PM

This trailer is just ridiculous. No real attempt at aero and a nightmare in a cross wind.

No interior shots..........I'm digging the truck.

and who says that THIS wasn't designed with the military in mind?

Imagine. No more 55 gallon drums of refined dead dinosaur juice.
no more noise.
no more thermal exhaust signature.

I salute him. Dare to be Different...........hence why I drive a Dodge Ram, instead of the Coke/Pepsi Chevy/Ford pissing matches on the playground.

I give Dodge Credit, the Rams still have nice sweeping lines.

Ford/Chevy are stupid bricks. blunt square nose like a Pug dog hit in the nose with a shovel.

What is it now ? showing a Laserium amount of gowdy of Grill LED's the size of a pizza box.......

Go Tesla.

He IS the new Revolution in Engineering....

No Pug Dogs or Shovels were harmed during Dyno testing.

The sight lines are still perfect on the Ram, the Cheby/furd blunt cliff of a hood.

IMHO
DIY
YMMV

Musk needs to get together with a certain "Outlaw" clothing "designer" in LA

That is an "oh duh" to any engineer in high sckool.

The only reason it might seem "unique" is probably that all past similar patents have since all dried up.
Not one single US truck manufacturer bought and implemented this common convenience...over the last 100 years....

Then look at the ramp angle with the 8" hump in the middle of it.

Look at the flat thin deflection surface vs. load.

It's not rocket science. But it should be.

RWebb 11-22-2019 01:09 PM

we hear ya

I'm blaming drugs too.

I agree 100%. Musk, Bezos, Gates -- god bless all of 'em. They have kicked humanity forward farther and faster in my lifetime than just about anyone. None are a day at the beach personally, but neither were Einstein, Edison, Jobs, or, as it happens, Tesla himself. Elon is fun because he tries, succeeds, and fails right out in public. He is a showman like Jobs was, and a business high-wire guy. He reminds me of Preston Tucker, buy Muske has survived longer because he already had a pocketful of cash from previous ventures. So when the haters come after him because he is a tech disrupter, he holds them off.

But damn, that truck is still pretty ugly.

SCadaddle 11-22-2019 02:36 PM

Now that I've seen this, I'm seeing things that I didn't see the other night with the new Mustang Mach-E.

Yep. That's it. Musk is a shill for Ford! :D

asphaltgambler 11-22-2019 02:45 PM

Must be from the same designer team as this...……….

Take the time to watch the video posted, or at least skim though it to find the interesting points.

Not sure where that trailer image came from, but I agree - it sucks. The rear should have box cavity or at least clean release edges, and the front needs rounded corners or beveled/angled edges - the darn thing is backwards.

onewhippedpuppy 11-22-2019 03:13 PM

I’d be a bigger Musk fan if he had built his financial failure of a company without milking the US taxpayer.

I was thinking in that direction, but that's a bit stronger than I'd have put it.

Like I said, it may not fly today (I'm sure they'd sell some), but 10, 15, 20 years from now, they may all look like that.

The folks that are going to buy an "electric truck" made by Tesla are not the same folks (on the whole) that are going to buy a traditional truck for utility. There will be a few, but most of them are probably just going to do it to be different.

LEAKYSEALS951 11-22-2019 04:07 PM

Somehow, I feel every time I reply to this thread, I am playing into Elon Musk Tang's (which is a Ford btw) TRAP >>>> (but it's still fun)
