Now here is why I think Ebay is SCUM...

I have a NO RETURN POLICY...regardless of that the Buyer can return the item if he says, "It is not as Described" or "it is Defective." Since I sell USED items (which by definition shows wear and tear form usage) I do my due diligence in describing the condition of my items with multiple pictures and text. Buyers can and do GAME THE SYSTEM by claiming it as being "defective" and or "not as Described>" Ebay does not care how well you describe the items showing condition. if the Buyer says "defective" etc he not only get his money back but the Seller HAS TO PAY FOR SHIPPING IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. Those shipping costs eat into profit margin as the money comes out of pocket. EBay bluntly says, "You have to expect that sort of thing as part of being a Seller." This in effect means the Buyer has no skin in the game. The Seller no matter how well described has NO RECOURSE as anything even if clearly shown can be claimed as being defective. This means it is open season on the Seller.

For decades I have sold other items on different platforms where if the Buyer doesn't like the item he has a 3 day right of rescission and can send it back. However in that endeavor the Buyer has to bear the cost of shipping in both directions.

I have gone around and around with Ebay on this..and am to the point I never want to talk to them again.

Every Seller I know on Ebay has horror stories about how Ebay treats them...from Buyers violating Ebay "feedback Extortion" policies to sexual stalking of a Seller..Ebay does nothing (even when reported)..

An Item (USPS Priority mail) to a guy in Grosse Point, MI... got to USPS office in MI...office contacts guy and says shipping due..guy say he paid for shipping...item sits in PO for 2 months and is returned to me...WHY..the USPS paid shipping tag had fallen off...It got to Gross Point..which means the tag had been scanned by the PO to get there..Took it back to PO where they at no cost reshipped it the guy in MI. Guy really wanted the item to wait that long for it and was happy..

When I was selling I generally shipped USPS priority, signature required. Never a question on delivery.

Lots of scams where that doesn't matter though. For instance:

Say you sell a high-end widget. You ship via USPS Priority (or whatever) with tracking, delivery confirmation, and signature required. Buyer accepts and signs. Then you get an "item not as described" claim, and the buyer wants to return it. You agree, and they ship it back. When you open the return package, there is either no widget, or a counterfeit widget in place of the one you initially sold/shipped. Now what?

This is happening frequently with high-end watches/bags/shoes/etc.

Again, seller-beware.

You are right about that. Seems they come up with a new scam every day. Another reason I went from ebay to Craigslist. At least it is local. Craigslist is near dead now that Facebook marketplace is going. I hate to do it but I may register on Facebook just so I can sell.

I bought and returned a Volvo sensor gizmo a few years back. I had opened the sealed bag. I think the seller e-mailed me and asked me to call him. I did and he said he could not re-sell it because there was paint overspray on it and the bag was opened. I did remember rattle can spraying something near where the part would have been laying so my bad.

So I am ready to eat this purchase and the guy says, "Look, here's what you do. You file a notification (maybe complaint?) by doing such and such and Ebay will refund your money"

I did just that and got a refund pronto. I was amazed.

FWIW....Also sold four matching date 72 E steelies to a member here living in Paris. He sent all the money thru Paypal up front but had done this business before and guided me through everything (e.g., value declaration) needed for a smooth delivery, Maybe seven days to arrive.
