Old Dell Inspiron problem
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 that is probably about 10 years old and has Windows7. Lately I have been having to press very hard on several of the keys to get them to work. When I googled this problem, there is a lot of talk about replacing the keyboard which of course is not worth it on a computer this old. I have sprayed the keyboard with Wurth contact cleaner (which is an excellent product left over from my Porsche days) and blew it off with compressed air. Now as I type this it appears to be operating better but not perfect. Anyone know any other solutions?

Looks like the keyboard is pretty cheap. Guess it's just a matter of could I replace it without destroying the rest of the computer.

Mine does that a bit. But I live at the beach so I get a bit of sand around the place...
I use the vacume cleaner, pipe only - not the end you use on the floor, and go over it with that. Make sure you don't suck the keys off the board. I also tip the laptop on it's end and tap it a few times. It may work and it's easy to try. |

Thanks, guys. The replacement looks quite simple. I'll order a new keyboard.

Replace the hard drive with an SSD while you're at it. You'll thank me later!

Glad it worked out good for you. Those Inspirons are a tough computer. I had one and replaced it just because of how old it was....I should have kept it.
