Dishwasher recommendations

No, not that kind, i'm already married. I mean the mechanical kind.

Current unit is a top control Maytag with stainless tub that is very quiet. Loved it for the 5 or so years it worked. Control panel appears to have given up the ghost so we need a new unit. Reading reviews it seems impossible to find one that doesn't have plenty of one star gripes.

Anyone very pleased with their machine?

Dont screw around. Just get a Bosch.

Was sort of talked into a Miele 11 years ago. It is perfect today. Never a problem. Almost undetectable on the sound. Con: it wasn't cheap. I would probably do it again. Flawless perfection is pretty cool.

We had a Bosch at the old place that was great for the 5 years we were there. We have a Maytag now that is quiet and efficient.

Bosch for 20 plus years. Miele now. Pricey but it’s quiet and my wife is happy.

I have a GE.

Sounds like an Allison at full throttle.

Asko dishwashers are excellent. Had them 2 houses, never a problem. Quiet and effective.

We have bought a lot of Miele appliances over the years, always happy.

We bought a Bosch several years. No issues, and we love how quiet it is. It does great for getting dishes clean.

Bosch, love is so much in our main house we’re dumping a 3 month old Maytag unit in our new vacation house for a Bosch.

Quiet and cleans like there is no tomorrow.

Umm. It would be nice to fix the Maytag and stay Maytag. there really are some chit dishwashers (mechanical ) out there.

I installed a Bosch in 2003 and it lasted until last year. I replaced it with another Bosch unit.

Our Bosch just died a couple weeks ago after 6.5 years. It was never any good. Didn’t dry the dishes completely.

Had a Kitchenaid prior to the Bosch. My wife was happy to get a new Kitchenaid last week and it is great. Quiet and dries the dishes well.

Remodeled the kitchen last year and got a GE Profile dishwasher. Love it. Almost silent standing right next to it. And of course it cleans well.

Just dont get one of those ones that takes 5-10 wash cycles that someone was talking about.

Bosch. Had mine for 15 years and the thing is like a garbage disposal and a dishwasher all in one. Everything just comes out clean.

It seems to me that all of the latest generation of energy efficient dishwashers suck at drying. The high efficiency units don’t have heating elements like the old skool ones. Curious if the new Kitchenaid you bought is a “gross polluter” model with a proper heating element.

We have a Miele and it does a fine job washing, and it whisper quiet...doesn’t dry worth a damn. If we are still allowed to purchase them, the next dishwasher I buy will have a heating element...when I consider energy efficiency, I include my own effort in hand drying dishes as part of the total energy consumption. I’m happy to use additional electricity to avoid having to hand dry.

Bosch Benchmark Series. Built in Germany (unlike the lower model Boschs). Pricey but worth every penny.

I had put in a Kitchen Aide dishwasher replacing a 15 year old Kitchen Aide that was actually still running but was pretty noisy.
Think it was only two or three years old and I had to replace the main wash pump assembly.
The impeller on the pump had come off the motor shaft. No threads left in the impeller but the motor shaft was fine. Cannot just buy an impeller. No that wouldn't be profitable at all...
Cannot say that I would recommend the Kitchen Aide.

I bought a top line GE at a closeout price at Lowes in Aug 2018, and absolutely love the thing. Dead silent, cleans amazingly well, has dedicated bottle washers for sports bottles.

I installed an Asko dishwasher 13 years ago and it's quiet and hasn't needed any repairs. But we do rinse the chunks of food off the dishes and use Cascade phosphate detergent (I stocked up before it was banned). This is the same product reclassified as Fryer Cleaner:
