When it co n.v es to sensors, switches and emissions parts OE or OEM is the only way. You're gonna pay one way or the the other. Everytime I've deviated from this I get burned.

Yes, even the glass transmissions that both Mopar and Toyota had have long since been replaced with much better units. My parents routinely go 160k miles with theirs, aside from those few years with the too small 2nd cog in the 4 speed auto.

Mileage is much better as well.

Man, I am sorry I did not comment on this thread now. I probably could have saved you some time, but never really thought about it till I read that you figured it out .
I put a used motor in one for a customer a while back. The salvage yard snipped the wires to some sensors, and one 02 sensor, so I just grabbed a new one from the parts store and installed the engine .
Took me another whole day to make it run right, with the same symptoms you had . I wired the old 02 sensor back together, stuck it in,and it ran perfect again .
Weird. There are a few cars that do not like aftermarket 02 sensors. Toyota being one of them also .

I tried four (!) different Chrysler/MB O2 sensors from various (non OEM) brands that were listed as compatible. They all worked for a while, then lit "voltage too high" CE...

I should have known better considering that original fault was O2 heater circuit and not O2 itself.

Anyway, bus rolls on...hauling 2 by 4:s, kids, bicycles and whatnot I have to put block heater and coupe heater in it though, it takes lot of gas to defrost in the morning
