Corona, first hand

March 9th, wife complains about sinus problem. We assume beginning of her annual allergies, a little early but had mild winter and early spring equinox. 11th has some minor muscle aches. 13th has sinus headache, more muscle aches, call Doctors office. They recommend ibuprofen. Over the weekend develops fever, 102.7. Monday afternoon goes to Doctor where flu and corona test are given, told probably sinus infection and stay home from work.
Thursday 19th, she has been bedridden since Tuesday. 101 temperature severe muscle pain and sinus headaches, vomiting in morning, diarrhea, cannot tolerate light or noise, and has lost sense of smell and taste. Flu results negative, no corona results. Doctors office still recommends ibuprofen. I tell them that all news organizations say not to use that, I give her acetaminophen. She is in agony from headaches and wants to go to the hospital, but Doctor says no unless she develops breathing issues.
Wife's fever breaks over weekend. Monday 23rd still in some muscle pain, sinus issues. Doctors office calls in the afternoon, test results for corona are positive! Tell her they have no treatment, keep using over counter medicine and quarantine. County health department calls Tuesday to ask questions and tell us to stay quarantined, and for me to isolate from her. I have been staying by her side every day, and am not going to avoid her at this point in time. I take her for short walks around house and make sure she eats some food and drinks plenty of water and Tonic Water, which has quinine. Thursday 26th, she is feeling better, but still small sinus issues. Health department tells us we no longer need to quarantine, she is through the period where she would be contagious. If we go out use mask and keep distance from others. All through this they say I will not get tested.
Today my wife is doing pretty well. Appetite is back, sense of taste is back, regaining strength. Through all this, I have had no real issues. I worry about my 87 year old mother and 56 year old disabled sister. Even though it has not noticeably affected me, I could see either one of them being severely impacted should they contract Corona.

Hope she gets well. Did anyone suggest Claritin D for the sinus headache? I've used it in the past (when it was still prescription) for severe sinus congestion/infection and had decent results.

Great to hear she made a full recovery! And thanks for sharing, it’s hard to distinguish the truth from the BS in the media.

Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully your wife will continue to improve, and you will stay healthy.

Out of curiosity, what kind of questions did the health department ask? Were they very detailed/lengthy/ etc?

Thanks for sharing and glad to read it's going better for you guys. Is your wife in generally good health? If she had been without your help, how do you think this would have gone for her?

I did buy my wife Midol and Clariton. She does have a mild heart murmur and thyroid condition. In case it matters, I am type O and she is type B blood.
I get annual flu and shingles vaccines. I contracted shingles a few years back before the vaccine was available. Shingles caused me excruciating pain and some long term nerve damage to my shoulder. It took root in my nerves that had issues previously from herniated discs in my neck.
She is 11 years younger, and has not but will in the future now that she is turning 50. If I were not there for her she would have gone to the hospital emergency room.
Best of luck to all.

Sully. I’m glad she is feeling better. You did well taking care of her!

Any tips on how you stayed healthy while being in such close proximity? I appreciate the intel. 10 days of misery. Got it.

Thanks for the report. Interesting to hear first hand what the symptoms are. I'm glad she is feeling better and you are doing well.
I'm reading between the lines a bit, assuming "May 9" is March 9. Correct? "Thursday 19th, she is feeling better, " must be Thursday the 26th?

Guess I've been suffering from Cabin Fever while she had Corona. My hands have never been cleaner though. Fortunately I have always had Clorox Cleanup, Lysol and TP well stocked, tough to get now. I wash every glass after use before refilling. Spring cleaning has taken on a new meaning. Can't wait till my helper is back for the dishes and laundry. Listening to her on the phone with her friends now that we are locked in together is giving me a little headache though.

Bravo on handling this thing at home and glad she is on the mend. It really is an odd disease that affects everyone a bit differently in terms of symptoms and severity.

Thanks for the first hand account. Glad your wife is doing better.

I am curious as to how your DR's office handled your initial visit? What kind of precautions did they take?
