Bought a RWS .177 side cock at a pawn shop a few years ago. Wow. That is fun and accurate.

I'm sorry John, but quite honestly, I'm still lost. Not altogether surprising, I admit, but from what I can see, nothing Paul said looks like anything but an airgun conversation. They are, after all, not considered "firearms" just as he said.

Anyway, yes - the "fun parts". This would be a great time for any of you feeling too cooped up to get started in the wonderful world of air guns. Quality entry level guns are cheap. Ammo is damn near free, and there is never a run on it. Most people have enough room to shoot them, even in a small apartment. There are cheap and effective bullet traps that will capture all of the pellets, stopping them with no threat to the neighbors whatsoever.

If you are like me and already somewhat into firearms, the quality of the better air guns is sure to please. These are not cheap toys by any means. Their quality of manufacture and their accuracy are on a par with any "real" firearm. And the amount of practice you can get in, right there in the comfort of your own home, will pay clear dividends when shooting "real" guns. There just isn't a downside to any of this.

For those of you who don't even like guns, give this a try. A couple hundred bucks will get you an eminently serviceable air gun (even with a scope if you want one), thousands of rounds of ammo, targets, and a target trap. That's all you need. Oh, and some eye protection, because we never shoot without it. You can kill hours playing with these things. It really is a real hoot - try it. I bet you wind up liking it.

Taser guns are not considered firearms, although they fire projectiles. At least our local ordinances around here don't require a firearm permit. I checked. Brandishing anything will get you into trouble, so you can't point a can opener at a store clerk, for example, but merely having a taser x29 with an output of 5mW in a holster is considered OK by our local cops. It won't do didly squat, but it will make an impressive snappy sound.

Thank you, that is a fantastic video. I was led to believe they were carrying a more typical ball reservoir rifle, sort of like this one:



I'm going to have to look into this a bit more. I'm kind of weak on early air rifle design. Just not something that ever caught my attention. I think it has now...

My RWS air rifle is the reason I'm not overrun with ground squirrels. I have it zeroed in at about a hundred feet. I'm always amazed at how accurate it is and easy to shoot. Does a great job with ground squirrels. That's the only thing I use it for - well except for an occasional gopher.

I’m actually pretty excited about getting my hands on some new airguns here. I had a few pellet guns and pistols when I was a kid, decades ago, but nothing like what is out there today. These are the real deal! I think I might dive in to the PCP world, I need a new hobby to consume my time!

Timely thread! I was just looking at the Crosman 150 that came out of my dad's garage before the sale of my parents property.
$17.88 price tag on the box from Woolco and inside the box is the gun the original pamphlets and a tin of what looks like lead pellets with a price of $0.88 on it.
Going to grab some Co2 cartridges and see if it holds pressure.

starting this thread prompted me to have a look at my old air guns which I haven't bothered to look at in a long time. Nothing special here I don't think, but this is what I have from when I was younger:

1. Hy-Score (Diana) 825T, .177cal pistol (break barrel type)
2. Hy-Score 807 .177 rifle
3. S&W 77A .22cal pump rifle (I recall that one was fairly powerful at the time)
4. Crossman mod.454 .177 pistol (CO2)
5. Roger .177 pistol (CO2)
6. Daisy BB rifle
7. Another no-name .177 break barrel rifle that I assembled from a kit

Those guys are great! I've bought pretty much every one of my air guns from them. They know their stuff, and are very enthusiastic about it.

Pyramid Air is another great source. If Airguns of Arizona doesn't have what I'm looking for, they are my next stop.

A good share of the air guns on the AoA, including the one I'm interested in, have 2-stage triggers.
I'm used to a single...is it easy to get comfortable with the 2 stage?

The "new" 2-stage trigger on my RWS/Diana that it came with a few years ago is sweet, and I've never messed with it. It was extremely accurate out-of-box.

I only have one issue with mine...once you flip the safety off....you gotta shoot cause ya can't flip the safety back on...so it's not perfect
