Most Original: 1966 Mercedes-Benz Pagoda SL Interior. All original interior trim, except for period correct German square-weave carpet (replaced 31 years ago!) and period correct coco mats. Period gold-trim Mercedes-Benz "Star" white German porcelain china and Mercedes-Benz "Star" engraved German silver cutlery in picnic basket originally from private dining area above the old Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart.

What ever category works!
1987 928s4 - Originally a US car has lived since mid 90's in Canada. Bought through Hoffman Porsche in the north east, it is one of the first 20 cars built. In remarkably original condition, has been a smile-maker to me for the past 6+ years. And that should be referred to as a big smile. My wife commented that it's the only thing I ever wrote cheques for (remember doing that), that I smile about...
Needed a bit of love when I bought it, the previous caretaker polished it a lot, but didn't drive it much and you know how THAT goes. But, it's been fun sourcing the bits and I've met a lot of nice people along the way. Special call out to the folks at Porsche of London, they've been the best. Somewhat rare diamond blue metallic, but everyone refers to it as my purple-ish silver car. Burgundy leather interior and fantastic seats keeps my pal Mike and I from moving about too much on those nice sweepers north of the city. Still looks modern today after 33 years.

The other side of the garage...
My mom ordered it new in '60 and took my sister and I to school everyday in it; Dad taped up the headlights and raced it occasionally on the weekends; Many, many trips to Watkins Glen, Waterford Hills and Mosport race tracks with 38k original miles; Fantastic memories of blasting around the Midwest US and Canada with parents who loved and knew how to drive, and instilled this into both kids... Off the road since 1967 and awaiting a sympathetic restoration; the original bill of sale, original shop manual (still in its cardboard mailer, paperwork, service records, old 8mm film of the car and everything is still original and untouched after 60 years. My next project...

I doubt employees are eligible but here's my favorite pic of the 71S I spent 10 years restoring.

Get off my lawn!

![]() On the Tail of the Dragon ![]() Somewhere in the Smokey Mountains Eureka Springs, Arkansas on a 21 degree morning. Acadia National Park in Maine. You have to guess this one! In Arizona heading for home. ![]() In the curve just hanging it out. ![]() My engine was in here somewhere! ![]() My very recent brake fluid change. ![]() Last summer, in Key West, FL. You pick the category for me. It is a mostly stock 85 911, with the best modification, very functional Air Conditioning. In Savannah, GA in August, on a lunchtime outing my wife asked me to turn the temperature UP because she was cold! The heat index that day hit 135. With functional AC I can drive my car to any state, and it has taken me to over 40 states and Canada. I plan to hit all the lower 48 states. I have hundreds more pictures but only 10 at a time will go on one post so I will stop.

Fun to drive a Porsche and keep them original. My first car a VW Karman Ghia almost counted. 1991 944S2 Cab and added 2001 996 C4 Cab. Miles but otherwise great condition. Great examples of unique or notorious versions, depending on your take. Regardless, put the top down, and hit the wind and its a porsche convertible no matter what, and the ride and sound to boot!

my 84 928S - it was a real mess when i bought it in 2011 - finally got it on the road in 2015 - it started it's life with an automatic transmission but i did some welding and converted it to a manual to give my left foot something to do - it's no garage queen, more of a road warrior - been from denver to california twice - denver to phoenix - denver to new mexico - pick the category

#pelicanpartscontest
This is my Thunder Ranch 550 Spyder replica, my first build, which I bought from its second owner as an unstarted kit and decided to assemble with as much authentic-looking detail as possible. I extended the chassis tubes to make the front jack points functional. Cut grill slats with aluminum ducting for a front mounted oil cooler. The horns are frenched in as original.
I relocated the fuel filler to the correct location then hammered out a steel surround to mimic production Spyders’ gas tanks. [Best Mod] I made the pedals to mimic 550 items and relocated the headlight dipper switch to the front firewall, which I paneled in aluminum along with the rest of the tub before painting it all French Blue. There’s a floating floor made of rubber-covered white birch. I cosmetically refurbished a pair of Autopulse fuel pumps and made manifolds and brackets for them. The interior is finished in barber pole vinyl which I Velcroed in so it can be quickly removed to show off the riveted aluminum for that “just raced” look. There’s a functional 550-style lever jack slotted in along the passenger rocker box. [Most Original?] Fabricated a 547-style diagonal breather tube to dress the Jake Raby 1914 Type 1 engine, with dual coils (one’s just a spare) mounted and an oil accumulator where the dry sump tank would be. I also made a spare tire “seat” along with the leather straps and a (removable) holed steel subframe shaped like the originals. I smoothed the inner clam and pressed an aluminum reinforcement piece with flanged holes. [Best Maintenance??] I skinned the undercarriage in aluminum, then fabbed up a louvred underpan to isolate the Sebring style exhaust from the topside air intake. [DIY] There are a lot of other details not shown. Now just waiting for the MVA to re-open to begin the titling and registration process. [Garage] |
