Not many know that Tony Iommi played with Jethro Tull. He only stayed with them for about a month, decided it wasn't for him, and went back to his original band. He says his time with Tull changed his entire perspective and approach to actually being a band. Where he and his "band" had previously just screwed around and kinda sorta "rehearsed", he learned from Ian Anderson just what it meant to be a leader in a band. He got serious about it and turned into a real taskmaster. The rest, as they say, is history.
