The Doobie Brothers live at WTTW Studios in Chicago, Illinois on November 27, 1977 ("Livin' on the Fault Line" Tour 1977-78). I first restored the video by deinterlacing the footage, doubling the framerate to 60 FPS. I then added color correction (brightness/contrast, lighting/color levels). I restored the audio by adding a compressor/limiter and EQ.

The Alfee has been around since the '70's.
There's a world out there! "The Alfee (formerly spelled Alfie) is a Japanese rock band formed in Tokyo in 1973. Originally a folk quartet,[2] they became a trio of bassist Masaru Sakurai, acoustic guitarist Kohnosuke Sakazaki and electric guitarist Toshihiko Takamizawa in 1975. With all three performing vocal duties, they adopted a harder rock sound in the early 1980s.[2] Beginning with their 16th single "Marie-Anne" in 1983, they have released 59 consecutive top 10 singles.[3] The Alfee hold the record for most concerts performed by a Japanese band, with 2,972 as of August 2025.[4][5] HMV Japan ranked them number 92 on their list of the top 100 Japanese pop acts.[2]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Alfee

I can't believe we have not paid tribute to one of the greatest guitar players ever, Steve Cropper.. The tracks he has played are legendary. For a start:

Thanks, Skip!
Listened to the entire thing 2x this weekend while working on my motorcycle stuff. For those interested.....the three interview segments were fantastic! Who needs podcasts? 20:41 - For Someone Special / Interview (John Hartman & Pat Simmons) 24:49 - I Cheat the Hangman (excerpt) / Interview (Pat Simmons) 34:07 - Interviews (Tiran Porter & Keith Knudsen) Quote:

RIP Steve Cropper. He was also a huge part of the sound of Otis Redding; not just a touring guitarist, he was a wizard in the studio, mixing and producing.

1985 riding thru Iowa with my grandpa and Broken Wings comes on the radio. He said I like that song. We never agreed on music, but we did that day. You can't describe this song, it's how it makes you feel.

I've enjoyed the original (and many others) by Marty Robbins.

I was in a class at work and the teacher started playing that song. He asked everybody what the name of the song was and I answered. Then he asked the name of the band. I gave him the answer again. He didn’t say anything, but he was probably surprised somebody knew. |
