FB 'Math' problem.

Please show your work.

I apparently don't know how to do basic math...

Can't show my work, it's a wild guess

tadd 04-07-2020 10:16 AM

Ugh, 45/3 = 15.
21/3 = 7
12/3 = 4

Thus 15+7=19*7=133

Don't fall for these - the point isn't the math problem, it's harvesting users

109 ...don't have any work :D

There is an order for operations - you do multiplication and division first, then addition and subtraction, rather than simply doing the operations as they appear from left to right. So the answer is 109.

Some observations.
The image of the witch in the first row is not the same as in the last.
Not all of the broom images in the third row are the same.
The image of the wand in the second row doesn't match the image in the last row.

I promise not to harvest any users, and there isn't a link to FB (or anywhere else) in my post.

4+15×7
4+(15×7)
4+105
109

stevej37 04-07-2020 10:33 AM

133 (no work..retired)

^^This. Everyone should delete FB.

Kind of interesting with its subtleties. Looks like:

The wand = 7 each
There's 4 brooms that = 12, so they = 3 each
The witch with the broom and wand = 15
A witch w/o the broom and wand = 5

Bottom line would be 3 + (5 x 14) = 73

Very good

tadd 04-07-2020 10:35 AM

...and that is why I am a chemist :-). Forgot about that pesky order of operations thing!

Exactly, in the third row the middle spoon is doubled up so that counts as 2X.

Last row the witch is missing the spoon (whose X needs to be added to the 1st row where she is holding it) and the wand is either doubled or tripled up.

It's a two part problem, find the differences and calculate the values accordingly then do the problem.

They can be fun if you like solving a puzzle but yes, harvesting. Best to just ignore or do offline if you are bored.

Exactly, if you see something designed to either make you think you're smart (take this quiz, can you find the one item that's different, Can you figure out this problem, etc...) or list off places that you've been or your favorite stuff or take our quiz to find out how lovable you are or how cool you are or etc...., just ignore it.

71T Targa 04-07-2020 11:22 AM

There wasn't a link to follow for this one. Just a picture posted with 'friends' replying.

Not saying that this isn't for harvesting users... But it's not like the click bait quizzes I see.

If this is the way to solve it....

broom line has THREE brooms, not FOUR

Broom = 4
Wand = 7
Witch with Broom and wand = 15
Witch alone = 15-4-7 = 4

4 + (4 x 7) = 32

Isn't it 3 brooms=12, i.e. four each?

So the 'base' witch is 15-7-4=4 also?

Bottom line is 4+4x7=32

Maybe.

gtc 04-07-2020 12:51 PM

If you look closely, there appears to be a second broom behind the middle one, as well as a second wand in the last formula.
