So Stephanopolous tested positive for Covid-19...

but he's asymptomatic. How did that happen, since it's currently impossible to get a test unless you're exhibiting symptoms? Oh wait...that little people thing.

Sounds like his spouse had it pretty bad. So, I would imagine his work wanted him tested before he is allowed back?

Yeah, same as a bunch of NBA players suddenly getting tested after Rudy Gobert exhibited symptoms. Money talks...

Not necessarily. If he has a spouse/family member/close employee with a symptomatic infection, it's possible he was tested as a precautionary measure.

A friend's husband had a co-worker come down with a respiratory infection suspected to be Covid. Closed that place of work down and tested all co-workers, even the asymptomatic ones. I don't know why, but my asymptomatic friend was tested too. In the end, both the original ill guy and my friend's husband tested negative...but my friend wound up testing positive! Now what do you do with that information? Quarantine her? Her husband? Separate them? What about her place of work? What a mess.

Friends daughter tested positive after visiting Spain. Quarantined at her parent's (CA) house, and then her parents started getting mild symptoms. They asked for a test and were told no. just assume you have it and quarantine

He's a lying snake, but I don't wish any ill will on him.
Hope it turns out well for him and his wife.

Maybe it depends on where you are? Testing is now available to anyone (even with no symptoms) here in Ft. Bend County, TX at no charge....

I tested positive so did my 94yo Dad...... prognosis good for both of us. My Doc made me test when a cough would not go away, Pop had a fever in an assisted living home.

I live in New Jersey, where it's ****ing impossible to get tested unless you're exhibiting symptoms. So much for trying to track and control the virus.

Basically, it comes down to doctor's judgement. If your doctor (or NP or PA) thinks you need the test, it can be ordered. The CDC (when I checked about a week ago) had no criteria other than that--doctor's judgement. WHO had a bunch of criteria, but they were recommendations and not absolute indications.

Sorry, here in NJ at the testing sites, it's no symptoms, no test.

I should have clarified my previous statement re: testing with no symptoms and is only in this county as far as I know. That was announced only yesterday. Prior to that it only those exhibiting symptoms. I also suspect the number of tests they can do per day is rather limited at this time. Most testing is still symptoms only.

AND last time I checked TX being #2 in population ranked # 49 in testing and that speaks volumes.
