ok, ok. I'm not going anywhere until this is lifted. lol. The point was to try to find an isolated place away from home!.. (and yes.. I'm still traveling extensively right now for work (because I'm "essential") and my wife works in the Covid unit at Emory..

Same here but FB II is concerned about them infecting me even though they've been isolated too. Having lost his Mom to ALS he is really cautious about my health.

Crow - I see the possibility. Don’t get me wrong but we are not there. Yet.

If people keep going out needlessly and this continues to spread, we WILL get there and nobody wants that.

The discussion started with going on vacation (which may be within your constitutional rights to do), and has evolved (regressed) into whether going out needlessly right now is ethical given the sacrifices most people are currently making.

This explains how social distancing works pretty well...

Cabin in the woods on a lake sounds pretty good right now.

Understood, flatty.

The opposite is true for me. The sprouts of Crowbob want their sprouts and me together. I isolated way before it was fashionable and they thought I was nutz.

Which brings me to a point about civil disobedience.

I have lived within the rules all my life. Almost obsessively so. Back in the late 1900’s the state decided I was of insufficient caliber in the fatherhood department and so laid out for me what it thought was reasonable regarding parenting time with my children (i.e., divorce and custody). Even though I believed the situation an absolute and gross miscarriage of everything I knew to be good, i steadfastly abided by the rules but took the fight into the proper arena.

Now I again find myself barred by executive fiat from visiting my grandchildren. As time goes on under these circumstances, in my mind, the righteousness of disobedience grows.

I’m thinking I and my psychology are far from alone.

Unkabill,

The key word is ‘yet’.

And also, it is not up to the state to determine the needfulness of me being with my family-a point with which it seems to disagree and has threatened, by force if needed, to uphold.

This is not a point of ethics. We are probably much in agreement on ethics, I would guess.

I also respect and appreciate the sacrifices being made by millions of people.

I acquiesce to the authority of the state only so far as it remains outside of my rights.

oh, fer fk sakes..

oh look, dominos spaced further apart don't domino either.

A better analogy would be to put some unsprung traps in among the sprung.

And then repeat with the sprung traps off under a bubble some where.
