Vacation.. Where?
So, I have vacation the first week of May..Kind of hard to plan something when i dont know if we will still be on lockdown everywhere so any suggestions on where to go where we could still do some social distancing if we had to? I could leave from leave from ATL or Memphis area and was thinking about renting a cabin up the the Smokies or Lake of the Ozarks or something like that to go hiking etc. but have also heard that the Appl trail is seriously overcrowded right now? Happy to drive somewhere where there are things to do also. Like a cabin on a lake that has canoes, etc. Trying to think of something/somewhere to go either not far from ATL or Memphis..
Open to flying somewhere also.. What say you guys? |
We'll still be in lock down.
But it's still fun to fantasize. Sorry I'm not familiar with that part of the country to offer any advice. |
I hear vacation excursions to Wuhan are going dirt cheap now..

Staycation is the word right now.
No one wants the virus brought in from somewhere else. |
I get all that but hoping this will be lifted by then but if not I'm sure an isolated cabin in the mountains would be sufficient?

Welp,
Fräulein Whitmer closed all the state parks here in Michigan and motorized boating is verboten. I doan know nothin' 'bout no National Parks, though. I'm fairly certain they won't be open until Michigan's economy is FUBAR. |
Head for the hills and be safe. Avoid the parkways, App. trail, etc. and chill....
|
My sister has a mountain house outside of Brevard...less than a tank of gas from you.
I really like the area and access to a lot of trails and outdoor pursuits. Check Air and other sites to see if folks are still renting. |
The seldom used bonus room above your garage? Honestly, I am spending some bucks on an upeer-mid iRacing rig right now. Money that we were planning to spend in Italy and the UK.

I think remote cabin sounds like the best you can do.
It is a beautiful weekend and I am itching to get outside. Where? Most places I want to go are closed. I think we are driving to the family homestead site and hike a little, picnic, chill with Mother Nature. We have to re-index our brain for a while. |
Marc:As you know I just got back from Blue Ridge. We had a cabin in the hills. The roads were easy to walk. Not even a tank of gas round trip for you.
|
Marc, we took a trip last year to Black Mountain, NC...rented a house through VRBO. Not far from Asheville, Lake Lure, etc. Visited the Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley did some exploring...was a nice, low key trip and not too far from Atlanta.
Not sure about restrictions under CV19 though but might be worth looking into. |

NO!
Even though I live close to a larger urban center, we use the rural medical system. The rural medical systems can’t deal with the influx of people looking to escape the city and the Corona virus. Stay home, keep the germs in the cities. Some towns have even put up sign asking people to stay away. |

How about a Mediterranean cruise?

There is one continent without a shutdown. Antarctica.

Deckapulco for the foreseeable future.

There appears to be a controversy regarding whether or not landscaping is an essential activity. At first it was OK for a 89 year old lady to mow her lawn but she could not hire a 16 year old to do it for her. Nobody knows the answer right now. However, you cannot go to the store to buy a plant or grass seed or whatever but you can go to buy lottery tickets and booze. |
