Here's my house when it was featured in the Indianapolis News in 1957 (Built in 1955)

Some really beautiful homes here!

Love this mission Spanish style one. Could fit well in Taos N M .

Hoping the background colors are a flaming sunset and not a raging forest fire right next door.

Amazing dry stacked rounded River rock wall.

Cheers Richard

Man, you guys have some really beautiful homes!

I got kinda lucky when we bought this one. My wife adored the home (I certainly like it) and I adored the garage (she could give a crap): the single door is three-cars deep and the 12'+ ceiling allows me to raise the lift fully even when it has fairly tall cars on it

Haha - just a sunset, but it is a danger where we're at.

An thanks!

Thanks! I'd been eyeing this house for 10 years before I bought it. I was living in California at the time, and knew I was transferring back to Indy....saw it was for sale, so jumped on it. I ended up closing on the house, in a Starbucks in Palmdale, with a notary. I closed on the house and moved back to Indy 3 months later. I had a buddy check on it for me until I moved back.

That’s funny, I was able to find basically the same type of story on our house from the Indianapolis Star circa 1924! Glad to see you’re preserving a genuine MCM, such a rare find.

More recent shot;

No kidding. I was cruising around Williams Creek in my Targa a few weeks ago on a beautiful day, just admiring the scenery. It’s a great, hidden neighborhood.

WOW maybe it is.
I was told by the original owners daughter, she is 88, that her father sourced the wood for the house out of a small forest behind our pasture. I believe this to be true because when I look at the beams in my basement they are all rough sawed and of non typical sizes. A 2 x 6 is actually 2 x 6 not the finished size of 1.5 by 5.5....
Maybe they bought the plans from Sears??
Interesting
Thanks

Haha, Taos??? No.

Not in Taos. No mission style.

Most are Pueblo style, some Territorial style... Zero Mission.

Partly, Mission does not work at 7K feet above sea level where it's routinely zero degrees F in the winter with 24" of snow.

I lived there.

That's like my friends from Texas thinking about moving to Santa Fe. Went up for a long weekend in July; I met them there.
Lunch the second day they said they expected to see palm trees, there were none, it was 85 degrees that day.
What? I said... this is 7500 feet above sea level, in winter it gets way below freezing, often a couple feet of snow. This is basically the same climate as Denver, CO.
They did not move to Santa Fe.

So I wanted to lurk at your crib and check out the local scenery in Indianapolis via Google Earth.

I loaded "Cool Indianapolis houses" into Google Images and yours appeared with a couple other mid-century moderns. A real estate ad in 2009. What does that say as to it's coolness?

Then found Nate2046's house based on the address in the old article.

Meridian is pretty swanky location. Nice choice, guys.
