Well I finally finished the series and enjoyed it very much.
I loved the ebb and flow of the plot lines. I like how time is spent with each of the ranch hands so we get an idea of their future. I think the ending was appropriate. I don’t have much interest in the two prequel series.

after watching the season finale, I see no point in watching any of the prequels.
spoiler alert for those who haven't seen in the end they lose the ranch--so the entire thing was pointless
