I watched a Gunsmoke episode yesterday with Kurt Russell as guest star. James Arness was also in it but Festus was featured more in this one.

I LOVE the old 911 gauges and dash!

One day, I'd like to buy a bunch of the gauges and create/cut out a reasonable facsimile of the dash to hang them on a wall or put them on a shelf.

I actually have a 911 dash cut to build one of those, but my plan is to have a functional clock. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1634877769.jpg

Nice, and I was thinking it would be easy to wire up the gauge lights as well. Might be great for a big desk or a bookshelf. And I think I've seen in some of your collection some cool gauges, tachs that go to 10 and the like.

This isn't "bad" but it's not as good. And it is missing a couple of items. There should be a "druck press" gauge at the very least. And it would be nice if there was a way to get the volts to show up too. Hell, my car doesn't even have a good way to retrofit something to give oil pressure which is sad. But thank goodness that in addition to the digital speed display at the bottom of the tach, we also have a speedometer. I understand why Porsche did it. I know that people are too stupid to get oil pressure gauges and oil level gauges, but that doesn't make me any happier about having the car designed for the lowest common denominator.

I remember the days of the gas pumps with just two digits. And full service at every pump. The first time I had to pay THREE whole dollars for a fill-up, I thought it was outrageous. Normally it was $2.75 for a full tank of gas, a clean windshield, oil checked, tire pressure adjusted, and handful of green stamps.

I also remember those days as a 15 year old working evenings & weekends in a Richfield service station. I can still remember how to open tail lights for access to the fill tube. We gave double green stamps on Mondays. That was our low day & that was an incentive for people to come in for a fill up. I also remember certain ladies when I was washing their windshields.

(er...to be be honest that's exactly what I did. Someone used the car and ran over a big pothole or curb. Wheel bent and vibrating. Replaced two with aftermarkets. The OEM plastic wheel covers were still cutting the valve stem and bending it sideways in all clock positions. Installer at Discount Tire pointed it out. Good luck chasing after any exact-matching cover. Had to grind a relief slot. My hack job was only slightly more pretty.)
