Changing, China...
The brownish river Jialing meets the much cleaner Yangtze...

Confluence

Rio Negro (black river) is like iced tea. Water floods an area full of leaves and organic matter and steeps until the water takes on a tea-like color.

Rio Solimoes is faster moving and carries silt/sediment, so looks like someone added cream to their coffee/tea. When the 2 rivers meet, it takes a while for them to combine due to

Confluence of Rio Negro and Rio Solimões near Manaus, Brazil. Taken by me.

Actually, I think he was supposed to be a pile of poo, but I get it, the part where he uses his tongue to catch a fly (flying around the pile of poo that he is) was confusing to me too.

I'd forgotten how amazing Kelly Lebrock was.

Rear doesn't even look like a 914, wrong rear light buckets, wrong rear quarter shape
fire wall in wrong spot,
roll cage like that could neve bet installed on a 914

At the new home orientation, I give new buyers green tape for drywall touchups and blue tape for paint touchups, but I’ve never seen it that bad.

That said, stairwells get beat up a lot, from material going up and down the stairs.

I had one of those. At the time they had an out-of-control 3 YO and a 1YO. I could see the stair walls paint lasting a week. Yet these nouveau riche pukes wanted perfection.

I saw $18,000 spent on oak floor repair and refinishing and a slew of plastic toys and crap spread out all over on a subsequent visit. I never did like working for new money. Worst customers you can have.

Old money was a pleasure, mostly.

Yup. Back in my uni days I worked summers for Buster Crabbe pools. The nouveau riche were absolute alpha hotels. Our best customers were blue collars fams that saved for years to get a pool installed. The biggest difference? The blue collars had coffee and buttered rolls for us every morning. The nouveau didn't and *****ed about everything. Where we parked our trucks, the noise of the mixer, our music, how long we took for lunch.

The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day:
In 1940, the fastest speed limit anywhere in Texas was 45 mph. In that era, most cars would not go much faster than that.

At one of my former jobs we had a skinny chick that wore thin summer clothes and was pleasant to look at, but always cold. She would tun the AC up and all the men in the area were cussing her. One day, I suggested to do more than sit there waited for customers to walk in, get up and run the vacuum cleaner on the foyer carpeting. She tried that, and was all warmed up, and we had a better looking foyer! Win Win.

Yep, old money customers only for me anymore. New money people are not realistic, treat you like they're doing you a favor by hiring you and think every contractor is out to rip them off. I love dealing with my old money customers who trust my advice and trust me so much that money is never even discussed. I take care of these people

I could possibly take some jobs repairing on site but old money died out. At my age that is entirely true.
