My buddy sent me this McQueen photo, does anyone know when/where this was taken ?

I never cared that much for bikes. Have to admit, though, I'd look good on one, if Ali MacGraw was on the back.

maybe filming The Sand Pebbles

KNS 01-04-2021 01:02 PM

Sammy got it right - McQueen was still married in '66 during the filming of The Sand Pebbles. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1609797751.jpg

Epic movie. I haven't seen that in forever. I refused to see the remake.

I forget where, but I think that particular sub is on permanent display at a museum. The hull was modified with an entrance door for visitors.

I have never seen this system before.

If that is a single layer for each floor, there must be steel reinforcement bar embedded into the lower prefabricated plane following the rule of; top is in compression, bottom is in tension. The rest of that wire may be for thermal expansion and contraction.

Waffle slab
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffle_slab
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1609944302.jpg
Quote:

Waffle slab is the most technical and economical type of roofs among conventional systems. The main element in the construction waffle slabs is waffle formwork[1]. A waffle slab or two-way joist slab is a concrete slab made of reinforced concrete with concrete ribs running in two directions on its underside.[2] The name waffle comes from the grid pattern created by the reinforcing ribs. Waffle slabs are preferred for spans greater than 40 feet (12 m), as they are much stronger than flat slabs, flat slabs with drop panels, two-way slabs, one-way slabs, and one-way joist slabs.[3]

The ancient Romans had this technique figured out when they built the Pantheon over 2100 years ago.
