Lou Costello was originally from Paterson NJ, they built a memorial for him there. This is an old picture, they are now updating the property and expanding it. For the record, Bud Abbot was also from NJ, Asbury Park (which is where Danny Devito is from as well).

Each engine holds 37-1/2 gallons. It takes about 1-1/2 drums of oil to refill the plane with fresh oil.

I wouldn't have thought to hang the airplanes. I'm curious if modern aircraft are stored this way? I suspect they're too big and heavy. Then again...

Recently a visitor to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge asked what the term “Cross Timbers” meant. This term describes a strip of land that runs from southwestern Kansas across central Oklahoma to Central Texas. Made up of a mix of prairies, savanna and woodland, it forms part of the boundary between the more heavily forested east and the almost treeless Great Plains. The thick blackjack oak and post- oak growth formed an almost impenetrable barrier for early explorers and settlers. Washington Irving, in 1835, described it as “...struggling through forests of cast iron.” The Wichita Mountains are on the Western Boundary of the Cross Timbers.
