The magnificent great hall at Stokesay Castle is unchanged for more than 700 years.
It has a fine cruck roof, shuttered gable windows and a precipitous staircase

"Rogers Pass was named after A.B. Rogers, in 1887, a surveyor for the Great Northern Railway. The pass is located east of Lincoln, Montana, and one of the headwaters regions for the Blackfoot River. It is the best route between Missoula and Great Falls.
This mountain passage spans the Continental Divide and can experience extreme weather conditions. On Jan. 20, 1954, the temperature dropped to 70 degrees below zero just below the pass on its south side in a former mining camp.
This is the lowest temperature ever recorded in lower 48 states.
It also is a great place to observe golden eagles and other raptors. Strong westerly winds help migrating flocks to cross the Continental Divide so they can spend the summer on the Great Plains. In October they traverse the pass and divide again, heading westward to numerous locations in the mountains of western Montana."

The Banff Wildlife Crossings Project was implemented in Banff, Alberta.
Combined with fencing to keep the animals off the road, the structures have reduced animal-vehicle collisions in the area by more than 80% (>96% for elk and deer alone).

Modena is closely linked to Enzo Ferrari's early life: just around the corner from the Largo Garibaldi townhouse is one of the most important addresses in his story: 11 Viale Trento Trieste. Originally a stable for draught horses, the address and the 19th-century building that once stood there was purchased by Ferrari in 1930 with the help of a million-lire loan from a local bank. It was primarily used as an early base for the Scuderia Ferrari racing team, but doubled as the Ferrari family home for nearly four decades and continued to serve as a private office for Enzo until the final few years of his life

Totally agree.
(Reinforce the beam hole with external plywood first. 1' overlap minimum on the sides with plenty of deep penetrating rated screws. Under-slung or even doubled up would be even stronger. Bolt-though the ends. Then hack away through the beam.

The small junk room in my house at the basement corner only receives passive heat.
-Tools in that room seem to rust quickly.
-It receives no fresh circulation air from the furnace to warm it and drive out moisture.
-There are support beams in the way and I've been trying to figure out how to supply it .
