It was Turing-complete and able to solve "a large class of numerical problems" through reprogramming ENIAC could do 50 multiplications per second, and it had 18 ALUs. The FPGA chips now can do 500M multiplications per second on 3600 ALUs. That's two billion times the math in about .0001% of the space.
