For “good” businesses to exist, the benefit has to be mutual. As happens quite frequently when they get too big (ie: successful) they lose sight of who made them that way to begin with and they start to believe the notion it was ‘them’. We’ve seen it happen time and time again.

@nvr2mny - sorry to read and I feel your upset. Based on this, which other avenues are you going to use to sell the Jag and the 911s?

They can't waste listings on idiot crack pipe owners who think their car is worth a trillion bucks. That window space is better allocated on cars that actually will sell without a crack pipe reserve. For every no reserve met car, that is another car that could have sold and generated revenue to pay salaries. Business 101

I have NOT seen any car requiring a trailer ie a unrestored car needing work on their site in a while
most look to be restored to show quality or at minimum drivers in very good condition or the exact opposite of where they started as a site for people looking for old cars to restore |

It's no longer "bring a trailer" - now it's "bring a trust fund"

![]() I know every seller thinks their cars are ‘special’ (ie: worth more than what’s out there) BUT I can guarantee you that these 2 Targa’s are WAY above what’s out there, or has been, for a LONG LONG time. That’s why I’m SO disenchanted with BaT. I also have the advantage that I don’t have to sell either one of them. I have the same affliction as many here, I build (throw money) them out of desire and once done am looking for the next hole to pour money into.

[QUOTE=SiberianDVM;11023702]Not quite a trillion but yesterday a DB5 sold for near 3/4 million.
Remember, they max out the fee at 5k no matter the selling price. 5% of the sales price up to 5k on the buyer. The seller only pays 100.00 or almost 400 if you have their photographer come out. I believe the real $ is in the data mining.

What amazes me are some of the cars that are listed 'No Reserve' and that sell for way more than I'd expect them to.
I think slow&rusty's car would have done well in a NR auction on BaT based on how other nice looking 928's have done. I totally understand the need for a reserve, but sometimes the car will speak for itself. His pictures speak volumes as to the work that he's put into it. Well done sir. And yes, it is disheartening that they've 'gone big'. It used to be a fun place to fantasize while looking.

That's kind of the entire point of No Reserve for the last 5000 years of auctions.

It seems like a bit of an insult to have to pay an additional "buyer's premium" for the privilege of buying a car,

The website didn't build itself. BAT doesn't exist to help you for free. It exists to provide a service that covers costs of doing business.

It's changed...in some ways better, other ways worse. The quality of the merchandise is generally pretty great but rarely are there any deals to be had.

As a ecom nerd one thing I've noticed is a lot more external connections on the page that I have to whitelist for the site to work; this started happening in the past couple of days.

What does “whitelist” mean? Are those all websites that are tracking you when you browse BaT?
The internet is a creepy place.
