I wouldn't want my head anywhere *near* those socks. Hell, I wouldn't want my *feet* near them!

I had all four of mine pulled at once when I was 24. No novacaine.. just an evil dentist with a needle, numbing my gums. Ouch. What can I say, I'm a masochist.

I was a wild one. In my illustrious past I've broken 3 ribs, cracked my C7 vertebrae in 3 pieces, broke an ankle, couple fingers and none of that can duplicate the pain that I experienced getting my wisdom teeth pulled all at once.

So what was in the needle?

I dislocated my right lower leg playing VB, and then had to have surgery on it. That was way worse than the wisdom teeth.

Durr... novacaine is used to numb the gums.. it wore off quick and while I waited for the pain killers I was in utter hell.

I think some people get laughing gas or go under for this procedure.

Thom, I've never dislocated anything, I guess that would be pretty bad. The worst part of my experience was that one didn't come out and he had broken it into pieces and had to extract each piece.. no fun.

I got nitrous and 4 shots of novocaine per corner. Thom, you're lucky your dentist (or whatever) used a drill--mine used a chisel.

They say that the suicide rate in the medical communtiy is highest in dentists because they cause people so much pain...but I think the bastards ENJOY it....

Yes, no straws, soft foods, etc. They also put these biodegrable plugs in the holes.

About the most 'solid'' food I've had was some salmon and rice today, which I sorta gummed. And the stitches now make me feel like I've got celerey strings caught in my teeth!

Had mine out in 1991 and awoke to the sound of them pulling the last one. One assistant looked at the other and said "I guess we're done." This was because the anesthesiologist(sp) can attend and bill 5 surgeries at once and I guess the dentist took off too.

They weren't done though. Several weeks later I got an absess which was drained with a needle the size of a straw. I could swear I was floating like an arrow over the table and lightning was shooting out of the toes. A month later got endocarditis from an ensuing blood infection. For 3 months had to sleep 14 hours or pass out on standing. Loads of fun.

There's also the salt water rinse after meals. Take the meds and keep it clean.
