Very nice buck Von--and the doe to fill out the freezer. I'm heading to OK next week looking for some success.

I have not hunted for many years but around my home town in North Idaho, the experience was similar to Von's. More like shopping than hunting. Lots of elk and small whitetails, rarely as big as the buck in the OP. Seasons were long enough and regulations fairly friendly, but only one deer and one elk allowed annually. According to the regulation.

Youth gun season took place over the weekend. My good friend brought his daughter (13 years old) out in the "She Shed", it's what we call our hunting blind.. They were in the blind for about 3 hours when this guy walked out. One shot from a .44 Marlin and it was game over. Both her and her dad were extremely excited! This is her first buck. She called him "Hubert" because she said a prayer to St Hubert, patron saint of hunters, before they went out. I'm gonna have to give that a try!
