I was considering going to my College Re-Union, but...
I was re-married and concerned my ex would show up. At first I was worried they would get into a fight. Then I thought about it more and was more worried they wouldn't fight, but instead talk about my idiosyncrasies... "Does he still do ____ ?" "Yeah! I can't believe it! Did he do ____ when you were married?"

I went to my 40th in 2008. I was shocked at the number of people I didn't recognize. There was a 50th that I skipped, and I'll skip all the rest if there are any more. I didn't like those people that much when I went to school with them. I'm not paying $50 to see them now.

Five years after high school I couldn’t remember most of their names.

I am coming up on a 30th, our 20th was canceled due to an odd duck coming out of the woodwork and contacting/threatening several people on Facebook. My class was around 450 people so there are quite a few that I am sure I have no recollection of.
A few people did meetup at a bar which was a good enough time but I don't really see the point of going to another.

Nah. No connections from HS and I didn’t like it much anyway. Combine that with being several thousand miles away now with no plans to ever really go back that way and I can’t say it’s too high on the priority list.
A lot of people I’m sure are still living in the area but I’m not one of those - had no interest in sticking around and becoming a “townie” type. To each their own. I’m sure there are some folks that go and enjoy but I don’t really see it as my thing. I can be found online if someone’s really so inclined. So far hasn’t happened. Oh well. |

I had a good time in H.S. Played football and was captain of the track team my senior year. They weren't easy years, since I worked at night four nights a week most of that time. I've been to every one except for the tenth and loved them. The last couple were fun but kind of sad, because several had died and everybody was getting old. They are delaying the next one for the year later. I've decided not to go, & a bunch of my friends aren't going which surprises me. Everybody is so old (includiing me), it's sad (agaiin).

I always enjoy mine. The 40th is coming up next year and will definitely go. I moved away from NOLA @ 30 years ago so it's always good to go back and visit anyway. We had about 700 in my class and I knew most of them.
I will say it's a little less exciting now as we have our own FB page and everybody posts stuff there all the time so you pretty much know who's been up to what already anyway but still good to reconnect. I was also on the committee to help track people down and talked with many who said the same thing a few of you have said here : "I have no desire to see anyone from high school". Well, there might be someone there who wants to see you!

I skipped the 5th figuring it would still be too cliquey, I’ve gone to the rest and really enjoyed them- 30th next year, I think. I still look very young and have stayed slim, so I have that going for me!
Just go and tell everyone how good they look and how nice it is to see them- you’ll have a great time.

I went to my 50th couple years ago (class size was 100) and maybe 25 of the class showed up. Some are no longer with us, some are far away but those that did show, we all had fun.
The planners did good. A tour of the old grade school (now office building), lunch at the high school (chilli and cinnamon rolls the size of dinner plates), homecoming parade with a float just for us, tickets to the homecoming football game (we won), then dinner/cocktails to tell lies and such. It was actually good fun. Last edited by abisel; 11-16-2020 at 04:53 PM.. |

It was actually a female classmate who apparently had a long list of grievances (from middle school through high school) and was looking for revenge. Law inforcement was involved.

1961? Jesus, pushing 80! I've had a great time at every reunion I've been to. HS reunions are much more fun than college reunions. That said, I doubt I would bother to go to a 60th reunion like OP. Do they let people out of nursing homes to attend reunions? Never thought about that.

I've never received an invitation, class of 76. I guess that fact will highlight the fact that I wasn't in the cool crowd.

I went to my 25th reunion back in 1998. It was the first one I had been to as I had joined the army 4 days after I turned 18. Everyone was surprised to find out that I was a prosecuting attorney. Most of them thought I would be in jail. I figured one reunion was enough.

I went to my 10th, it was alright. At the end of the evening there were a few of us hanging out and the most popular and cutest girl in our class asked me to her room in front of everyone. If it weren't for the other hard dicks, it would have been on, but I was CB'ed. Oh well.

I've been to my 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th & 50th. After the tenth it seemed almost everyone had become a grown-up, engaging, curious & fun to catch up with. Many had done some extraordinary things in the intervening years. A very few remained the same self-absorbed pricks they were 50 years ago, but they are much easier to avoid now.

I went to my first degree University 30th reunion back in 2000. Initially I thought I had walked into the wrong room as it was full of fat bald people, who were having to stoop to read the namebadges. I was shocked how many ex- classmates that I spoke with were ' consultants', ie unemployed engineers. I had a good time hanging out with a couple of the guys I had been friends with back in the 60s.

I survived my high school. Some of you may have heard of Paterson Eastside? I got out and never looked back.

Wife and I went to the same HS. Neither of us were in with the jock/cheerleader crowd. We went to our 15th and again our 30th and they were both okay. It was interesting to see how much some folks changed a LOT, and others not too much other than a few pounds. Our 40th would have been this year but due to some pandemic somewhere it got cancelled. I've heard there might be one held next year. Usually the class above and below ours also gets invited.
