What car is this?

This photo shows the M-505 Adams Probe 16 in the front (the silver car with the red interior that Alex and his droogs are about to steal). The one in the back - what one is that? I've seen it before, but can't place it. Never featured in the film, this scene of them stealing the car was cut (but is detailed in the book).

thx,

Wayne

Ding! Ding! Ding!
Well done! I had searched through Bertone and ItalDesign. Hadn't thought of Abarth.

Best

That Abarth is awesome. I'd rather have that than most Ferrari's.

Very impressive. Cool car too. Sitting next to the Probe 16 - obviously a good combo that Kubrick picked out!

Totally fits the 1969 timeline for the movie too: https://www.motor1.com/news/128077/fiat-abarth-2000-scorpione-concept/

Says that they only made one prototype of those, pretty cool that they put it in the movie. I read that there was some awesome scene that Kubrick created where the Droogs steal the Probe from a parking lot filled with unusual prototype cars. This scene supposedly got cut in the editing room, and then Kubrick burned the film (as he supposedly did with all of his extra footage). So, the evidence of these scenes only remain in the memories and occasional photograph from the crew that was on site. At least that's what I've read...

I see it all. Wayne you are not going to be able to sleep at night until you have sourced one of those.

Well, I think that is one of one, so there's only one place to go. Right now, the Probe 16 (one of three) is giving me enough trouble (rebuilding the wire harness in the car tonight!).

I tried searching but I could only find the production version. Do you have a photo of the prototype?

EDIT: Some lovely retro tech in this clip. (One of the best Turntables ever made and high end micro cassette player!)

Warning: Probably not 100% safe for work.

That's definitely it! You can see a tiny piece of the scorpion logo peeking out (red arrow), and if you look through the Probe's roof window and then the side window over the engine compartment, you can see the white stripe:
