if i had to venture a guess, i bet only one of us on this entire PPOT could break-dance. (i'm looking at you OWP)/. the rest of us would look like we are having a retarded convulsion, and end up wheezing and sucking on an oxygen mask, with sprained joints and mild concussion.

now having said that: this doesn't make it a sport. to me..but you do you. :)

Why not auto-x as an Olympic sport? The clocks don't lie. Bowling? Highest score wins. Golf? Lowest score. Pool...first to win a designated number of games wins. All have NO politically motivated judges involved. Sure referees can make bad calls, but with large audiences, not as likely.

Like Basketball making USA the smart bet, if pool was ever part of the games, put your money on the Philippines.. There are 12 year olds there who play world class level. A 16 year old Philippino girl entered the Northwest BCA championships tourney. Worry not, she was well guarded & chaperoned. She laid waste to the women's division, beating former WPBA champ Allison Fisher 9 to 3. In the men's top division, finished 2nd behind USA pro (ranked #2 among USA players) Mike Dechaine, aka "The pain from Maine". He barely beat her in a thrilling hill-hill (both had 8 games won) match.

Kids there must be given cues instead of teething rings...

I agree with Paul above. Those are legitimate sports.

I think the term "jumped the shark" may apply to the olympics now.

It's politically correct!

Can't exclude.

What silliness!

I'd do the lazyness olympics, but I'd finish 4th just so I wouldn't have to climb on the box.

Just wait until they start letting transvestite biological males compete in women’s sports to pander and virtue signal their woke-ness.

I used to love the Olympics and being in awe at the passion and drive that went into them, the training and ultimately the competition. Now it’s just one more wonderful thing that made our world amazing and enjoyable that’s been shat upon and ruined by politically correct “woke” stupidity.

Maybe the IOC will fix it and get us back to Olympic Games that make sense and inspire but I’m not holding my breath on that one.

https://www.britannica.com/story/how-are-sports-chosen-for-the-olympics

"To become a part of the Games, the sport’s IF must apply for admittance by filing a petition establishing its criteria of eligibility to the IOC. The IOC may then admit an activity into the Olympic program in one of three different ways: as a sport; as a discipline, which is a branch of a sport; or as an event, which is a competition within a discipline. "

Besides, what are the chances that a US break dance team could meet the anti-doping rules?;)

GH85Carrera 12-10-2020 06:36 AM

Next up, hop-scotch, hide and go seek and Jacks games. Maybe marbles as well. I guess Mumblety-peg will be excluded since it involves knives and that is dangerous.

I rarely pay attention to the Summer Olympics, so the organizers could make Hip Hop DJ a sport for all I care.

Now, the WINTER Olympics is a whole different kettle of lutefisk. Bobsled, Super G, Biathlon, heck, even curling is interesting once every four years!

Check out the official financial statements after the last few winter games... I am so glad my place voted against them. Receiving countries end up paying for decades afer the IOC and their goons (TV rights...) leave with full pockets.

Olympic committee was looking for more gender balanced, more youthful and more urban. What the heck does more urban mean? I doubt they are looking for Jimmy from Southie. Is there a huge number of break dancers out there to hold a world championship. Is it even a global pass time?

ckissick 12-10-2020 09:48 AM

Like they used to do at VW meets: Remove an old VW engine, haul it across a line, then haul it back to the car and install it, then drive the bug away.

OK, great. Personally the winter Olympics are mostly boring. The long jump and downhill skiing are cool, but ice skating to music is right there with the Disney on Ice show.

Track and field is the core of the Olympics, all timed to super precise results. Run faster or jump further, you win. No judge to say your style was not as perfect as the one from his home country.

Gymnastics is amazing for the abilities and strength but bad judges make it really hard to accept the results much of the time.

OK that's impressive. Some of those moves are straight out of the men's floor exercises. Definitely athletic.
