That one sold for SOLD For $11,200 On 1/27/21

Not bad. Mine has a fuel injected 350, 2004R transmission, limited slip rear end, and is a 1986. Yea, I have a ton of miles, but all the suspension has been rebuilt and so has the drivetrain. Mine is not for sale for any reasonable price.

Baader-Meinhof phenomenon kicked-in today at the MF Tractor place.

Parked next to the exact same car as Glen's minus all the stuff I don't understand...but it was white and a 1986

They are really beautiful cars. The owner was delighted in two things: I was interested in his car and he love my 1996 LC, white as well.

My Dad's brother had a 1959 or 60 El Camino. When Byron died my Dad inherited it. It was the car, three on the tree, I learned to drive at 12.

We used it to haul horse manure from the ranch, which was my job.

Still shoveling.

What stupid logic. If you don't need a pickup, then you don't need an El Camino.
El Camino is just a low clearance pickup truck that is not even 4WD.
Get a real truck if you need a truck. Get a car if you need a car.
Not a fake car truck that is mediocre at both.
There is a reason they are Edsel dodo bird. lol!

I have had 2 El Caminos in the past. Some of us dont "need" someone telling us what kind of car or truck we need. Logic has nothing to do with what I drive.

If you don't get it, you won't get it. And that's ok, Mr. Sweetness.

I've only met a handful of actual El C owners and they all said the same thing. "It works for my purposes. I love this thing!"

To which I say, cool. Get after it and enjoy!

Plus, BP gave the El C some love.

When EC's came out there was no Chrysler mini van which turned the direction of the auto industry. You could buy a station wagon. That having been said....

Easy to park
Easy on gas if updated
Less expensive tires, brakes, etc.
And one of the only true 2-seaters that is not a sports car (they can be made to handle very well).
More or less a timeless design (I mean would you compare it to a Nova 4-door?)
And a very easy to work on analog car.

Story: I went to the Chevy dealer to look at an new early EC. It was in the showroom. I opened the door and sitting down sideways, I asked the salesman how to move the seat back. He said it was fully back so I got out and walked out of the place.

Not enough leg room for me. Now today I could do something about that with custom seats. But at current prices of 20 to 50K, and sometimes beyond that, I'm not putting that kind of money in a utility car.

I could live with one if it had a cargo cover. I keep a lot of stuff in my trunk. That would be hard to let go of.

I think of my Elky as a car, with a REALLY big trunk. I do not need a pickup, but I do have to haul some stuff on occasion that will not go in SUV and certainly not in my wife's pristine Macan.

It just fits my needs perfectly. And I can't possible care less if anyone can't figure that out.

But my trunk locks. Jumper cables, compressor, hockey equipment.

Aside from that I could easily do it.

But there's a reason they went away.

There is a "smuggler's box" behind the driver's seat. The passenger side is for the full size spare. The driver's side is room for my tools, air compressor, jumper cables and straps to tie down a load. All locked up and safe.
