Yea Tell me about it. Its fun to even chat in the chatroom while knowing that you are talking with a person who just woke up and went to work, and you are near sleeptime.

I had a software patch downloaded to an MRI that I was working on Monday evening ( I work noon-9pm ) and it was from a guy in New Delhi. When our phone calls first went to India about 2 years ago, the connection was terrible. There was a delay and the language barrier was unbelievable. However, when I'm on a call now I'm not sure where they are. It sounds like they are next door and their English is fine.

I'm just glad that they can't diagnose and replace parts from there.

I love the internet.

Yeah...I Love the speed of email, communicating with Evren in exotic Istanbul, just two car club members BSing away...If snail mail? Takes about 10 days for an airmail letter to reach there.

I love watching the war, you see the reporters talking to the guys in bagdad, then you see a split second pause, and the guy in bagdad starts talking even though he hasnt heard all from the reporter in the us, just so they can have it look smoth!! ya I love AIM, talking with 10 people at a time, from all around the world, and no difference in the phone bill!!!!!

Ummm, Indian tech support guys. That's why half my tech support friends are unemployed with their jobs having moved to Bangalore.

Yup. At least this company admits to having their support in India. Some create entire fake personas for their India call centers, so the Americans won't know they're talking to someone halfway 'round the world.

There was a story on CNN or some other sometime back where they showed a room full of tech supports in some old run down building in India providing tech support for a software company.

I have talked to those folks (Indian tech support) numerous times and it's like they go down a punch list of things...it might take you four or five calls before they get it right. By then I'm ready tear the stuff all out and get two coffee cans an a string instead! If you call during US business hours, you may get an US based tech who may help you fix it the first time!

Never call AOL tech support after 5PM PST or you'll be talking to India too!

Well these are challenges we are going to have to face as more and more nations are able to compete with the first world. I know, I know, try telling that to the unemployed guy...

I guess we'll just have to keep one step ahead of the game so cheap labour isn't the answer to everything?

I talked to a Dell support guy in the Philipines. He had a slight accent but I assumed he was FOB. The give away was when he asked what date it was. I guess with the international date line it can get a little confusing.
