I think the platform for DIY'ers would be great, or is it for other manufacturers?

Article..........................explains it.

Feb 2nd 2021
British firm shows EV platform that could jump-start the coachbuilding industry
It built a Porsche 356-like car to demonstrate it
https://www.autoblog.com/2021/02/02/watt-electric-car-chassis-coachbuilders/
Quote:
England-based Watt Electric Vehicles hopes to breathe new life into the moribund coachbuilding industry by offering low-volume manufacturers a turn-key EV platform. Its technology can underpin a wide range of cars.

Watt calls the platform PACES, an acronym which stands for Passenger and Commercial EV Skateboard. As its name implies, the architecture integrates the battery, the running gear, all electronics, and the basic structure in one neat package; all that's missing is the body. It's built with aluminum to help offset the battery's weight, and it can underpin a panoply of vehicles ranging from a small sports car to a large bus, according to Watt.

Front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive configurations are possible, and the latter presumably uses two electric motors. Battery technology comes from what the company referred to as "a leading global OEM." There's no word yet on where the company sources its motors, or whether customers can request a specific power output.

Watt isn't waiting for low-volume manufacturers to come knocking on its door to start making the platform. It will use it to build a coupe called Coupe with a 1950s-inspired design, which is a way of saying it's shaped just like a Porsche 356 without inviting an expensive lawsuit from the firm's legal team. It will offer green-minded enthusiasts a 50-50 weight distribution, a performance-tuned chassis, and a rear-mounted electric motor linked to a 40-kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack. Two power ratings will be available, and Watt quotes a 230-mile range.

Additional details about the Coupe and the platform found under it will emerge in the coming weeks. ...............

The company went as far as comparing its architecture to the air-cooled Beetle's chassis, which ended up under a diverse selection of cars

Someone's Built An 'Off-The-Shelf' EV Platform For Niche Sports Car Firms
The newly established Watt Electric Vehicle Company has built a modular electric vehicle platform it'll use for a 50s-inspired sports car while offering the tech to other companies

We aren’t told how powerful it is, but we do know it’ll weigh under a tonne and have a range of up to 230 miles. A full reveal is promised in the coming weeks.

The EV "skateboard platform" is already the centerpiece of what will likely be the first serious EV start-up not named "Tesla" here in the US.

Rivian is already building a quad-motor pick-up and SUV for delivery to customers later this year. Ford has invested sevral hundred million as has Amazon. They are also building the new Amazon EV delivery vans using their skateboard platform. Basically all the moving mechanical bits are no more than something like 30 inches off the ground. Construction is occurring close to where I spent a good chunk of my youth - downstate Illinois in a former Mitsubishi plant.

It should definitely kick start some coach builders out there. What is even cooler is what a 4 EV motor truck can do.

Scale this classic design down some and it would be perfect on one of those skateboard platforms.

...and headlights; and they couldn't figure out a way to engineer roll-down side windows?

I think you have promoted Lucas, formerly only known in the US as the Prince of Darkness. Funny how in Britain we had very little problem with Lucas products, maybe we are just better at fixing simple stuff than Americans ,but we still don't have much good to say about Italian vehicle electrics.

The point is we don't have to fix stuff built with quality components .

I think that platform would go great with a 914 body...
