That is a great approach - I'm jealous! I buy slightly older vehicles (around 10 years old usually) for my daily driver to avoid car payments, but can never keep them past a certain age - the winter climate/weather and road salt use here in Nova Scotia just rusts things out so badly. Undercoating helps, but only delays.

I always said, if I lived in a place friendlier to vehicles, all I'd drive were older rigs.

If you mean that one trick is to go fast around a track, then you are correct. My replica is fine as a daily if the weather is nice and is also a hoot as a performance car. Lightweight, big tires, lots of HP equals big grins.

Gordon Murray says he's going to build me my dream car...

Love the great sports cars of the 50's / 60's. Testarossa's, 250 GTOs, GT4o's. P3s, etc.

But if I'm dreaming, I'm gonna dream big!! I present the one and only Ferrari P4/5. Style of the classics, performance/driving experience of a modern supercar.

I doubt that I can get James Glickenhaus to give it to me, however.....:(

javadog 02-18-2021 02:35 PM

I think James is still building a hyper car, he’d probably sell you one of those.

Tough choice between a 959, F1 or a Mercedes Gullwing.

I think I’d go for the Porsche.

Humble compared with you rich folks.

But I'd like a Karmann Ghia cabriole, slightly sporty style lowered with Fuchs, 2 litre engine, and painted yellow.

This is on my list. The 57 Chrysler 300 was light years ahead of anyone else, including the 57 Chevy. Virgil Exners best - then he got carried away. In fairness, Harley Earl did too.

I doubt if Ferrari will build you one either. It seems somehow hard to believe now that they ever did that for him.

Maybe you could get a P2/3 and make it street legal.

G.M. wants to farm it out. 840 kg (1,850 lb); 190 hp; < $34,000

slower than my 911 with a worse hp/wt but a new design

1994 Shell Valley. Has Corbeau Sport seats though.

berettafan 02-26-2021 06:35 PM

on this dream car thing i'm gonna mention that anything over 400hp or so means i need awd to stay on the road. heck i should probably have awd on anything over 250 hp in a sub 3k lb car.

gary1101 02-26-2021 09:15 PM

For me it would also be a replica I could drive anytime. Race Car Replicas make a XJ-13 that is quite nice.

Wayne 962 02-26-2021 09:21 PM

Okay, the XJ-13 is pretty awesome, but I offer up this as a rebuttal!

It all depends on how big I am allowed to dream.

The out of this world dream, the Lunar Rover
the wow, thats a fun weekend car 917 #23. Saw this car at Daytona one year and fell hopelessly in love
the wow, thats a fun weekend street car. Mclaren F1. Center Seat!
the if i won the lottery the first car I would buy. Mini Moke. Remember seeing one in the Caribbean, at a bar, literally with a bicycle lock chaining it to a tree for security. If I had any talent, that is a great start of a song, or a book, or movie.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614405847.jpg
