I decided to go with a Tag Huerer Aquaracer over a Rolex Submariner of Omega Seamaster, but over the last several years the watch that has performed flawlessly for me and runs on solar power is the CITIZEN ECO DRIVE DIVERS. For $200 its by far the best watch I have ever owned.

I bought a TAG Heuer Carrera 02 skeleton case watch. OMG what a huge disappointment. Piece of crap jewelry store watch. I gave it away to my girlfriend's kid. I hope he still has it, but if not then no biggie.

This one is mine. I bought it in 2009 from a porn broker and I paid $6,500. (With box and full papers). According to the papers it was originally owned by a Chinese gentleman who was living in Hong Kong. Not sure how it got to Australia but the porn broker I bought it from is very close to our China town. It's been serviced twice in 12 years by Rolex and still has the original hands and face.

OK so do I wear it? Yes but only on special occasions and those are becoming rarer as I get older.
- They're asking around $15,500 for a similar watch right now in Australia. (that doesn't mean they're selling for $15,500)

I pad $2,500 for the TAG Kirium. It still works and wear it on occasion but it's basically worthless now.

At the end of the day, Rolex has brand horsepower that others simply can’t touch. Is the watch itself actually worth what they cost? Not even close. It it’s still a very high quality watch that benefits from a brand that continues to go up in value.

So, if you simply want the best possible mechanical watch for the money...look elsewhere. If you want to wear an excellent watch that you can sell when the ether wears off...without losing a dime...and most likely make money...buy a Rolex.

I don't get the whole watch thing. I wear a $40 Timex that I think looks good and works as well as a $250k diamond encrusted Rolex. Wearing an attention getting watch would not feel right to me.

That said, I've admired Rolexes on other people's wrists. It's like other jewelry or even tattoos, I can like something on someone else but not on myself. Also, when it comes to cars/houses/clothes/music/taste in women/etc., just because I don't share it doesn't mean it's wrong. What's the point of freedom if you can't wear what you like?

I have a Tag that I purchased several years ago for almost 50% off, IIRC it was a $2,400 watch and I purchased it for $1300 with a F&F code a guy on another forum gave me who works for them. It is not going to appreciate, I know that it is a F1 model but nothing special and not a movement its a quartz. I am OK with that since I do not want to deal with tune ups on it. I doubt it will never be worth much it is looks nice and I like it so there is that.

I also have this $88 in 1971 Heuer purchased with a coupon off a Viceroy Cigarette pack. My grandfather bought one for me when I was a wee child to save and give to me as a HS Graduation present.

Today its worth over $4K.

My boss gave me a Rolex when I made VP of his company a lifetime ago. I never wear it. I prefer to wear the Heuer.

I also have a Schumacher Red Omega that I never wear. Maybe once or twice a year.

I think the Rolex is in the safe it is a very low end one, it was never a big deal to me. Maybe because it was a gift. A friend of mine was obsessed with it and saved up to buy one of his own, his prized possession.

I get the whole, Rolex is a benchmark thing, I just never really was into that scene.

I'm still trying to figure that one out. Perhaps porn broker means something else down under.

Not mugger bait..a huge plus in L.A. Also like the indiglo feature. I had one like that for a work watch. I scratched it's plastic crystal so badly it became tough to read, so I tossed it,

It's either the effects of visiting too many free Porn sites... Or I made a typo.
