99.98% of people recover from it, I guess you can call that luck.

asphaltgambler 05-02-2021 02:52 PM

Thanks!

No....

99.7%, possibly 99.8%

99.98% is 2 out of every 10,000. At that rate less than 70,000 would die if everyone were to be infected.

mattdavis11 05-02-2021 03:20 PM

I recovered, but I know my life won't ever be the same. Get in touch with your cardiologist if you have had it.

I stand corrected.

Glad to hear you and your wife are improving, hope the lingering effects to away soon!

As for the number being quoted by Jims5543, whatever the mortality rate is there are people out there who survive but have lingering or even lifelong impact from their bout with covid. I don't know what that number is but think it's worth acknowledging that the % who survive is not the same as the % who "recover." Sounds like we have someone in that camp right here at Pelican:

Hey all, yes we're both fine. God has Blessed us, the only thing lingering is tiredness, low energy once out the gate, but those symptoms are diminishing w/ time. I didn't burn any leave as my FMLA covered it completely.

So glad to hear this. I hope you are back 100% soon.

Uncertain long term effects?

The vaccine is specifically designed to break down after a certain amount of time.

..why we are CERTAIN of is that a good percentage of people that have had Covid have definitely long term effects from respiratory and cardiac complications. I hope uyoure not one sir....

asphaltgambler 05-03-2021 04:49 AM

Well - nothing is certain in life ..........is it? I'm in better health at almost 62 than the majority of my contemporaries. While I've enjoyed life to extreme, one thing I never touched was cigarettes. Starting @2 years ago, I changed what / how I eat, workout ( cardio) every other day. God has Blessed me w/ really good health late in life, I do my part by taking better care of myself mentally/ physically.

I now do 6 month intervals of major physical/ blood work/ checkups. I monitor things much more closely.

They have lied to us throughout this whole mess, who knows what’s right or wrong. HCQ is prescribed daily at every rheumatologist office in the country ask me how I know. That lie and keeping that drug from patients under false pretense is enough to make me question their motives.
MSM and social media have censored the truth throughout this whole mess. From masks to lockdowns to treatments they have lied.
So don’t walk around all righteous because you let them inject you with an unapproved, unknown, substance that may or may not work.

If it's possible for every word of a post to be either a lie, misinformation or just plain old schit-for-brains, this might be it. Congratulations! :)

Denis, there is plenty of "gold" or really pyrite, in this thread.

aldente 05-03-2021 01:32 PM

I saw a news article about a study showing that the Pfizer vax works well against the variants too.

What are your lingering effects ?

Went back and forth for weeks about getting the vaccine. Getting first shot on Wednesday. Decided there are two unknowns regarding long term effects.

1. Unknown long term effects of vaccine.
2. Unknown long term effects of COVID.

Between the unknowns and all the politics around this thing, I’ve decided the vaccine is lower risk.

I made a similar analysis, but looked at different possibilities:

1. Unknown long term negative effects of taking vaccine.
2. Known long term negative effects of contracting COVID (including death).
3. Know short term effects of COVID and getting back to a normal life

I made my choice.

Dizzy, tired, shortness of breath, nauseated, fever, sweating for no reason, numbness in the face, weak legs. I've got a long road ahead of me buddy.

I feel like a sack full of arseholes 2-3 days a week.

There are more than just 3 choices.

Sorry to hear you are still suffering. It must be very scary to not know how long this may last, or if its permanent. Have doctors been able to offer any sort of guidance ?

How long ago did you contract COVID? How bad was your illness when you got it ?

The only Dr. I have seen is my cardiologist. They gave me meds to bring my blood pressure down. I was on HB meds prior, but its elevated, probably because I feel bad. I'm exhausted.

First symptoms were Dec. 28 2020. 8-9 days of pure hell. Now I have an ear infection. It seems like it is never ending.

Chocaholic 05-04-2021 04:36 AM

If you had gotten the flu, you’d have been prescribed Tami-flu and Tylenol and recovered. If you get COVID, they send you home to suffer until you can’t breathe. Until it firmly takes hold and runs its course...which may be a long, long time.

To say there is simply no treatment is a bold faced lie. That is only a small sample of the dishonesty surrounding this pandemic. I just don’t get it. And it’s the reason there is so much distrust among thinking people about this thing. Everyone is an expert...except perhaps the experts.
