I lost one of my local King Snakes to my A/C unit... he must have been half way into it when the fan kicked on. Sounded like the unit threw a rod..... went out there and what was left of him was wrapped around the fan and the motor shaft.

Y'all remember Hugh's bad ass rattlesnake belt? I'll have a black belt instead
![]() Pretty sure this one is a newbie around my house.... I saw him come from the woods three days ago and he was just stretched out catching some rays half-way in the yard initially. Both I and my Lab left him alone for a long time, then I relocated him to the edge of the woods behind my back fence. Yesterday, the dog was sniffing his trails.... and again this morning... he's just a sociable snake visiting the city folk ![]() I've never seen mice, rats, etc. nor traces of them, but will check under my house to make sure. Might have a partial bag of grass seed, a "mice buffet", still under there. No further sightings since this thread... |

This is all I need to know — from Google:
"Black Snake Bites The black snake is not venomous and most species aren't known to be aggressive, but if they feel threatened, they will bite. Rat snakes are excellent swimmers, so their first choice is to flee. Usually their size is the most intimidating feature, not their bite, as some can reach 8ft in length" Now tonight I will dream about an 8 foot black racer doing about 20 MPH and comin' for me. Out here at the river we have the CA King snake and it can swim really fast. I've had close encounters of the scary kind with them while in the water. |

Transport him someplace several miles away near a lake or river because there will be critters there he can feed on.
If there are no homes around, that's even better because the next person he comes in contact with may not think he deserves to live. You mentioned moving him in your truck, but not wanting to move it right now. Do you have a car? If so (or if you know someone else who will help), just put him in a pillowcase, tie a simple overhand knot in it (doesn't have to be super tight) and transport him in that.
