1974 Ford Bronco
I visited Automotive Restorations at their shop during an open house a few years back. I have been on their mailing list since that time and they occasionally have something that I like, but can't afford.
Today, this one came across. It's nice but there is no way I can justify the asking price in my head. Maybe I'm just out of touch for this market. Or, maybe I'm just out of touch. What do you think this Bronco is worth? https://www.automotiverestorations.com/1974-ford-bronco. (more pics in the link) ![]() |

I really like them. Not $69,000 worth of like.
I am sure they have a ton of money in that one. With all the other mods I am surprised they left the C4 in it. |

Based on what I've seen those go for on BaT, that is about right at $69k.

But, while I get the visual appeal, the Bronco was a complete POS on the road, off the road, near any road. We owned one, used, that we bought in 1971 in California. I have two friends that own the originals and even they are a bit taken aback: just ride around in one (I have a bunch) and then think how riding a f'ing buckboard for 69k is going to feel. BTW, the production run of the 1st Gen Bronco is tiny, which is no doubt contributing to the value. But, still, what a nightmare. Now, the skin of a Bronco wrapped around something modern? I am in.

^^. Yeah, this is the Dearborn version of the VW Bus. It makes no practical sense at all.
The world is awash in money.

I was guessing about $70K, so not unrealistic in today's Bronco market. There's a neighbor about a block away who has something similarly gorgeous. I think the kid across the street asked him "how much" awhile back, and the owner responded in that price range. If I see it while walking the dog later, I'll snap a pic and post it.

Again, as much as I loved the visual appeal, the "thing", that "certain something", at a certain point you have to turn the ignition on and go. I rebuilt the motor, added whatever flavor of "performance" mods available and it still accelerated like a tectonic plate with a top speed resembling the Queen Mary...the Queen, not the ship ![]() Here: https://www.brandnewmusclecar.com/bronco.html

For the past few years this company has been selling every one they build in the $150k range.
https://www.highlineclassics.com/ I've owned a Bronco for the past 30+ years. Started with a 1974 in high school and the 1976 I have now was my daily for around 12 years. Now it gets used for errands around town. Yes, it rides rough but it's dead simple to work on and gets more waves and thumbs up than my old 911 did. It does get around 10 mpg though. I've been looking for another as I'd love to have a bone stock one but the pricing has gone crazy on them. I think with the new Bronco on the way the old ones will stay hot for a bit longer. |

If I had the coin, I'd dump 70k on a completely restored 74 before I'd dump 70k on a new one.
Don't care about the ride. I'd just be pimping around town to and from the ice cream parlor.

As aforementioned, they are called Bronco for a reason. Better eat your ice cream where you bought it. Roommate in college had a '78, we buried that thing one night, along with 5 others.

Most cars from the 1960s typically look way better than they drive. With the new Bronco hitting the streets I expect the old ones to keep going up. It’s not hard to spend $100k on an FJ40 so I expect these will be no different.
