116 yesterday in Portland. Such an anomaly that it was compared to Phoenix being 140.

Damn.

How is that possible?

Even with climate change, that is a Palm Springs summer temp in Portland, OR. What was the typical high temp there over the last 30 years in June?

I saw the high in Portland yesterday was 116. That is hotter that Oklahoma City has EVER been. Astonishing. Right now we have Portland's weather, and they are have Phoenix weather. We are at 74 degrees and a high expected of mid 80s. We have had 12.66 inches of rain at my house in June alone. I will need to rent a combine to cut the grass. We are actually going to get three days of dry weather this weekend, so I will be cutting the grass, and it is crazy deep after a 10 days of rain.

It’s been 38-40c all week. I left these in the frunk yesterday at work and some exploded! 😳
It’s usually the -35 we worry about here. Never seen a pop can explode from heat before.

Yep... Portland's temps on Sunday and Monday exceeded the highest temps ever seen in Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, the list goes on.

When compared to Portland's average daytime high in June, it's as if Houston hit 135 or Phoenix hit 143 or Chicago hit 124.

And here I am in SW Oklahoma where I haven't turned on my A/C for 3 straight days, only the ceiling fan. It might come on later this afternoon. Insane.

We have received 12.26 inches of rain in June alone. More is coming for the next couple of days and then the weekend it is supposed to go three days with no rain. I will get a chance to mow my yard that is way overdue. I might have to rent a combine and just harvest the crop. It is a soggy mess in my yard now.

“Meats, deli meats, bagged salads—they’re all off the shelves right now according to the store,” said one reporter based out of a Seattle Fox affiliate. “When you walk inside, you’ll notice rows and rows of empty shelves, normally refrigerated areas closed up, and those items removed as well.”

On social media, customers shared scenic views featuring rows of deserted shelves or recounting how their local chains—like the Kroger affiliate Fred Meyer—have turned to rooftop sprinklers to keep cool. Other posts showed the plastic sheets that some of these retailers have pulled over perishables to keep cool air in.
