The dealership only had one 2022 Civic in stock...and the sticker price was only $22,675

I’ve had a ‘16 Civic Touring now for about 4 years. I like the look of the regular sedan much better from the back.

It is a fun car to drive, has been trouble free and gets very good mpg just beating around to golf club, grocery, church, etc. I will say the audio/nav system is sub par and the steering is “notchy” which I attribute to the electric P/S with lane mitigation (steers you back into lane, etc). First time I’ve had CVT trans and find no fault with that.

The hatch back looks too smooshed up in the back to me.

Mine is a 1.5 turbo also…plenty of acceleration for me. As mentioned above, timing chain was a plus for me too. Also do very close to 40 MPG just beating around locally. Hope to have it for a long time.

My other Hondas are both manuals....Fit and Prelude. Neither seem to need excess pressure for the clutch.
I have not owned a Honda CVT, but the CVT in our Nissan sucks. It overheated and went to limp home mode driving the interstates in Kansas where there is more elevation change on a runway model.

I'm curious as to whether anyone has experienced trouble with either Hondas CVT or their Turbo.
I've never owned either one.

I’ve owned a 2018 Civic Touring with CVT as my DD since new.
No issues with it at all, save a failed AC condenser replaced under warranty.
I do get fluids changed more often than Honda specifies, but I’m OK with that. The intervals are too long for my liking.
It’s flashed and makes some 30hp over stock and has better drivability to boot. Generally I drive it very conservatively and have no concerns about the mods I’ve made and warranty.
Absolutely love it.

The 2022 Civic, not so much.
It looks like Honda just smushed down the current Accord to make it a compact.
Can’t stand the looks of it at all.
And it’s supposedly dumbed down in the hp department too.
I’ll pass.
Good thing I won’t be DD shopping for another 7 or 8 years.

I’ve had no issues at all with my Turbo & CVT, I just tuned the car with a CVT basemap tune and not Gozo gonzo power with all parameters set to 11, and I don’t drive the piss out of it either.
Generally the failures occur on heavily modified, harshly driven cars.

Why would Honda do that?

Apologies.
I definitely misinterpreted what I read in a press release.
Civic XI Touring model’s power hasn’t changed but the car is 100+ pounds heavier than the Civic X Touring, so I made the less than logical leap that it would affect drivability and power negatively because of added weight

Ok..thanks.
I'm just not so sure when buying a turbo engined car.
My Fit has a 1.5 liter engine and without turbo makes a very useable amount of power.
I don't want to buy something that is less than what I have.

Hope they finally fix the anemic air conditioning in the Civic line. I've owned 5 Civics in the past 30 years as daily drivers and am a big fan of their basic trouble-free functionality but for Honda to never adequately deal with the issue is mind boggling. Heard many of the speeches by salesmen over the years that on hot days, you need to always make sure the sunroof shield is closed and recirc is always on. With the heatwave now in the northeast, it is really not up to the job, no matter what steps are taken. Get it right Honda!!!

My a/c in my Fit is great!
Had a problem with it when I added too much bottled freon...my fault.
My Prelude a/c has never been touched...1998 and it still blasts out cold air.

That certainly won’t be the case.
The turbo 1.5 is damn impressive.
And even more so with a mild tune.

My ‘16 A/C also works great…and I’m in southern coastal South Carolina…lots of heat and humidity. Steve, I was also a little leery of turbo problems but I think the turbo technology has come a long way and is much more reliable than the early days.

The only time my 06 Si AC sucks is when it’s idling at 850rpm, raise the RPMs to about 2k and it’s awesome. On the highway I have to turn it down. I bet you mainly drive in the city?

Now if you have a normal civic that had a eco mode that will kill your compressor which sucks. Funny story, friend bought a 9th gen civic lx for daily driver. He was driving and mentioned that he like the mileage the car was getting but said the AC sucked. I pressed the eco button and all of sudden the AC woke up. Oh and throttle response was much faster too! He said he has never turned eco mode back on since then!
