Indeed. I mentioned my BIL's Volvo above. Compared to the Buicks and Cadillac my brothers owned, the thing was exotic. Four wheel disc brakes, four speed manual, seat and shoulder belts and seats which were firm and supporting. Around the same time my two eldest brothers came back from postings in Europe with VWs, a bus and a Type 3. I guess that might be part of the reason why I have owned over the years, two American, three Japanese cars and a dozen European cars .
