A long time ago on a job that was far away I had to break up a slab of concrete. The boss pointed to a 25 lb sledge hammer and I thought "I can't swing that!". As if he was reading my mind he said "don't swing it, lift it and let it fall". That sucker was HEAVY!

This is also how to get a consistant force when crafting with a hammer.
Lift to a consistant point above the work bench, just guide the fall into the strike location.
Even people with different muscle strengths can deliver the same consistant hit time after time, and make consistant part after consistant part.

Also, know where to hit the concrete and fracture it so it comes out in big chunks. I did my parent's driveway when I was in high school with one of those thing. I was dumb and strong, then I discovered the elec jack hammer. SOB, I was in love with that thing.

The thick rubber neck guard is a good upgrade.

Between my first and second year at college...I worked for my small city public works.
Our first summer work was removing the city sidewalks and upgrading them.
I was on a jack-hammer for half the summer.

Let me tell you...a jack-hammer is murder on your hands. My knuckles still pay for it.
