How can rational people question border checks given the COVID numbers in the US right now? Canada has numbers that are probably 10% of the US, and they can't cross.
So what's the point of the instant test if it's not reliable? One or the other makes sense. Both?

I have no problem with the checks if the checks make sense. But here we have A) must be vaccinated B) Must have a PCR test no more than 72 hours old prior to entry C) must have a rapid test prior to entry.

Keep in mind he's going to some cabin where he'll be the only one there for the first week. I could understand it more if he was going to Toronto or Saskatoon, or Edmonton or Vancouver... but he's going to a cabin on a lake. I think travel itinerary wouldn't be unreasonable.

As for Canada's numbers, Keep in mind he's traveling to a country with a population of about California. He's social distancing just by entering Canada.

An instant R test that is 30% false negative still catches 70% of the false negatives (which are less than 1% of of PCR, and small portion who caught COVID post PCR).

Have you looked into instant tests and the probability of a false positive? That's your concern right?

And it is a voluntary trip right to separate country with different rules I think...He can always choose not to roll the dice.

As for the comment about defacto social distancing, I can only assume your think that's funny.

Travel itineraries were used initially when people claimed they were driving 'straight to Alaska'. A large number lied. They ruined it for your brother.

Here's pretty much what I remember about rapid tests
"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting clinical laboratory staff and health care providers that false positive results can occur with antigen tests, including when users do not follow the instructions for use of antigen tests for the rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2."

I didn't find it funny, I found it true. The majority of your population live within a very small radius of your largest cities in each province IIRC. So he'll be social distancing simply by entering Canada. It's a HUGE country with a lot of wide open space. Your population density is something like 12 people per square mile. Where we live, and it's a small town, it's 2000 per square mile. He's social distancing just by entering Canada.

Our theoretical population density may be around that, but as you know people are not evenly distributed across every square kilometer of Canada, just like the states.
Depending where is coming from, and going to, he may be entering a more populated area than he is leaving. Toronto for example is over 4300 people per sq. kilometer.

As I mentioned, and I think this is accurate, the majority of the population in Canada live within a very short radius of the largest city in each Province. I can assure you, the route he's taking and has taken for years now isn't going to bring him anywhere near any large cities. Where he's going, there's no phone service and you take a boat to get to the tree stand you're going to hunt from.

You Canadians sure are sensitive about your tiny population.
