Fair enough John ;-) I didn't even look on my TV because I cancelled my youtubeTV last week (but I'm still good for a day or 2). In fairness to motortrend TV, you can easily get a few months of worthwhile watching especially the old Camisa/lieberman reviews, some old Wheeler dealer, some racing, but they are heavily "grease monkey Krazy mud redneck Kustom" oriented. But they let you cancel without gimmicks or difficulty, so I'm grateful.. Not the most fascinating Le mans, but it beats the bachelor ;-)

question for the brain trust. During the broadcast around 12 hours in, the commentator was noting historic LeMans events. He said that in the early '60's someone drove a Ferrari GTO in the race, placed fairly high then drove to Paris for dinner. Does anyone know if that is true and if so who it was?

In those days it's not unheard off to , there have been weirder things to happen.
Like the guy who drove the 24 hours of Le Mans .. Solo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Ramsden_Hall#Le_Mans "Hall had entered the 4¼-litre Bentley into the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1936, but the race was cancelled due to economic conditions and labour difficulties. There was a swansong performance for that car, however, when Hall drove it in the second post-war Le Mans 24-hour race in 1950, becoming the first (and only) man to drive solo for the entire distance, despite having a co-driver in the pits ready to take over. He completed 236 laps, which equals to nearly 3,200 km (2,000 miles). When asked by Denis Jenkinson what the toilet arrangements were if he never left the cockpit for 24 hours, Hall replied "Green overalls, old boy!"

there were Ferrari GTO's in 1962 63 64
1963 noted for "In the end they won easily – by 16 laps. In a record distance, it was the widest winning margin since Bentley's epic 1927 win (350 km).[3] With Scarfiotti, Bandini and Ferrari it was the first all-Italian victory, as well as being the first win for a mid- or rear-engined car. In a dominant display Ferrari took the top six places. The Scuderia shared the top places with the two Belgian GT teams racing each other: Parkes and Maglioli chased hard and only failed to catch the Equipe Nationale Belge GTO, in second, by just over 100 metres.[22] Fourth was the Ecurie Francorchamps GTO barely a lap behind. The Belgian drivers all celebrated together by driving to Paris two days later, and going to a nightclub till 4am leaving their respective racing cars parked outside.[25]" I think that's the story, not right after the race but 2 days later. as a Belgian , it seems right, that's what I would do ![]() That Ecurie GTO is apparantly the most expensive Ferrari 250 GTO out there

No mention yet about how terrible the interview girl in the pits was at her job?
I couldn't tell if she was speaking English or just had an accent so strong it was not understandable, mostly because her voice was too weak to speak through the stupid mask and over the noise of the cars. If I really worked at it I could understand every 5th word she said at best. it got to the point where I hit either the mute or fast forward button every time she showed up. PS I don't care who she is or what her resume looks like, I just know she is terrible at what she was doing and should not be hired to do it. |

^^^ I have to agree she was horrible ! But her interviews were at such a low volume they were easy to ignore 🙂.

No kidding. I don’t know how in a 24 hour broadcast they never figured out that they needed to up her mic volume on the feed or change up the hardware.

I didn't hear at the end the announcers say what the issue was so thanks for posting . Really sucks you stay clean and leading after 23 hours 52 minutes and have a sensor take you out ! But as the saying goes to finish first ........... first you have to finish .

The pit interviews were almost comical they were so bad. 100% worthless. That lady had an accent so thick it was like a caricature of the accent, and she had no idea how to use a microphone. Lots of background noise and the scream of passing cars, and unintelligible mumbling from her and the interviewees.
The coverage I presume was the "feed" from the track officials. They were several 60 minute plus stretches of times that all they showed was the top two classes. No mention at all of the other classes. It was more boring than watching Hamilton start on the pole, lead every lap and lap everyone else except second place. Show me some passing and some action, even if it is for 30th place. There is lots of real racing going on, just not at the front. Toyota has had no real competition since Porsche packed up their stuff and left. Congrats to Toyota for the 7th win against no real competition. They are in the record books forever.
