Best ~ $200 Coffee Maker
For 20 years or so I used a French Press. Last one broke 2 years ago and after a ton of research I got a Technivorm Moccamaster which makes great coffee if you like mild, after dinner coffee with dessert. Perfect for that. Waking up and starting the day, not so much. With the French Press I'd leave the grounds in a full 10 minutes for very strong coffee.
So I'm researching again and the worst part is conflicting reviews. Some coffee place will say this one is the best for you then you read reviews and everyone says it's junk or has a fatal flaw. Need a coffee maker that will brew a bold, strong cup. That's it. Any recommendations?

I use an Aeropress when camping. Easy to make and easy to clean. Just fire the grounds into the compost container and a quick rinse to make it ready for the next round.

Watching this.
Underwhelmed by the Krups machine that replaced my Cuisinart grind & brew. I'm back to grinding fresh daily in the press.

It's a little above your pricepoint, but we love our Delonghi Magnifica. Fresh cup every time instead of hours old pot.

I went the moccamaster route with the same outcome….I’m now using a breville and love it….and it’s been almost 5 years since I bought it. No complaints.

I've got a couple Moccamasters, the full pot and the Cup One single.
They are just OK.

Which Breville do you have Lewis?

Keep your french press and get up earlier? I tuck a little collapsible silicone cone, filters and coffee for when the motel coffee isn't so good. Darn if that pour-over isn't pretty good! Sometimes simple is good...
(of course I'm hitting my Jura's button like a cocaine-addicted rat, just to be honest)

Mr Coffee is (apparently) the best 'cheap' machine.
I use the Cuisinart Grind and Brew. You can make very strong coffee with it, if you want to. https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DGB-450-Automatic-Thermal-Coffeemaker/dp/B08DCPFJP6/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=cuisinart+coffee+maker+grinder&qid=1629739865&sr=8-5

It's the Breville "grind control" (how could you not?).....if you like the idea of it grinding the beans.
It gives coarse/fine controls over the grind, and it gives control over strong/weak brew cycle if someone doesn't want strong coffee....I guess. The thermal carafe does a good job of maintaining hot coffee for several hours...first coffee makes I have that I don't complain that it isn't hot enough (or, in English-----the coffee is HOT and stays that way for hours) a little pricey. $300.

$200 will buy you 4 Mr Coffee 12 serving "Simple Brew" makers, which is about 20 years worth....

As i am reading this i am slurping down a Kaffee smoothy..1 cup Esspresso, 1 cup 2 % milk and 1 cup half & half. Drop of Vanillia coupla Tbl spoon of Spenda and ice in Vitamix..
I make my coffee one cup or mug at a time wt my Espresso maker..every cup is fresh and you get the nuance out the bean where nothing else can compare. So you live your life as you choose.

It's more than $200, but I love my Moccamaster and would only ever leave it for a Jura, which is too much $$ for me.
