Anyone else get their Third dose of the Vaccine?

Got my third dose of the Moderna vaccine Friday afternoon based on my docs recommendation as I take a drug (TNF Blocker -Humira) on the CDC's list for my Crohn's Disease.

I was very tired on Saturday with a slight headache for a few hours, woke up Sunday feeling normal. I had a much worse reaction to the 2nd dose.

Anyone else get theirs?

Not yet, but I will when it is available. I had no side affects with either of the first two shots.

nope. i will tho. 8 months after my 2nd puts me out somewhere in November.

do they need to match the original vaccine? i had pfizer. do i need to end it with the same?

Yes, need to match.

We can't get one until middle of September sometime. Hopefully we wont have to drive 95 miles away to get it this time. It would be nice to get it at a local facility.

8 months after 2nd dose for me is Oct 1st. Not a concern. Moderna

If they offer a 4th, and a 5th vaccine, will you continue to get them ? Are they adding efficacy, or trying to replace lost efficacy ?

My guess is that it will be an annual dose. Replacing lost efficacy with the same formula. Trials going on for an updated version that should perform better against variants. Probably won't be available until late this year or early 2022.

NY65912 08-23-2021 07:56 AM

I was told that in my case they are trying to increase the efficacy. People who are immunocompromised may not have developed the maximum efficacy.

Boosters, same as a 3rd dose is to replace possible lost efficacy.

I do think that additional versions of the vaccine will be offered into the future as the virus potential mutates.

I have no problem getting the vaccine every 6 months or so if necessary.

Cheers

When I got my second shot, I told the lady that gave it to me I'd be back for a booster probably in August. Guess I missed by a month so expect to get it in September.

We get a flu shot every year. And the two part shingles vaccine, even though we had the single dose shingles vaccine that came out first. The phenomena vaccine is also a good idea.

Fortunately vaccines eliminated polio so we don't have to get hat anymore. I did get the small pox vacaccine twice in my lifetime.

Polio was given to me on as a pink sugar cube in school in 1960. I get the flu vax every year. Got typhoid years ago, pneumonia vax twice and will get the shingles by as soon as I am able to.

Typhoid vax has a time limit (2 to 5 years) as I learned the hard way.

i got my shingles shot. my booster was a few months ago.

i got my pneumonia when i turned 50. doc said something about my asthma.

the only vaccine that knocked me for a short loop was my yellow fever shot. i remember being ill for a bit.

i personally am thankful there are people out there fighting back these illnesses with vaccines. smart people. thankful it wasn't up my my dumb ass to create these vaccines. :D

Will get the Pfizer booster in Oct. if not sooner. Just minor sore arm with the first two doses and doubt will be any different this time. Have had the pneumonia shot, flu shot every year and the Shingrix shingles shot a couple of years ago.. never a second thought about any of them...

As to polio vaccine, I got the original Salk vaccine , the sugar cube later.

Not sure why but I didn't get Smallpox vaccine until I got in the Air Force ??

??

In the summer of 1978, the last known case of smallpox was reported, claiming the life of 40-year-old medical photographer Janet Parker

I got the small pox vaccine and have the round scar on my shoulder to prove it, no paperwork needed. In 1971 when we were coming back to the mainland from Hawaii the Air Force insisted we get another small pox vaccine. Moving from Hawaii the the Alabama required that vaccine. It did not "take" so I did not get another scar.

It was a really bad disease and people that died from it died a horrible death. Polio is all but wiped out, leaving only two polio-endemic countries (having never interrupted the transmission of indigenous wild poliovirus type 1), which are Afghanistan and Pakistan.

I am happy that I had both Polio and Small Pox vaccines. And I worked in Pakistan for a year back in the 1980's.

I am back at the TCDD (Texas Center for Drug Development) and they will tell me all about the "Booster". I'm hoping to be offered the new Moderna booster which targets all know variants, presently in Phase 2 trials.
