That’s funny. I like the Ford Escape a lot but it seems too small for a police cruiser in the U.S. Most agencies use the current Explorer. In Europe, they use smaller cars but man, it must get tight in that back seat.

Yeah very common. Not very reliable platform either. I see a lot of them at city auctions, same with the hemi ones. Just trash they're putting out.

Ironically Phoenix still uses the Tahoe and those things must be 8 years old now.

Better than the police around here. They are buying Skodas. A Skoda will break down before they ever catch up with a bad guy.

Our cops are moving to Hyundai SUV's... Meanwhile our politicians must have made a deal with BMW.

Not true at all. Many people have been arrested or detained and later found to be not guilty of the original suspicion. When they need to give a regular citizen a ride for some reason, do you think that they put them in the front? How about the countless times I've seen cops rolling 4 to a car for some event, including crowd control?

They had a scene years ago on "Arrested Development" that took place at a Ford dealer. It went something like:

Customer: Oh, this is nice! Is this the new Bronco?

Sales guy: No. We discontinued that model after it was featured in a low speed, high profile police chase. You know, negative publicity.

Customer: I see. So what is this one called?

Sales guy: The Escape.

There will be a bunch of LS V-8 motors in running condition after the human race is extinct.
