I'd hesitate to call that 'wood' as well.

In general they don't make vinyl anywhere near that good today. Most of the modern stuff is garbage and the really good stuff (marine upholstery grade) is very expensive. "You listed these as leather, but it's not leather, it's vinyl. What kind of a deal can we work out here? How bout 1/2 off of the total price, and you don't have to restock them...?"
Nice looking vintage stools - I mean, if they're all in good shape like the one you pictured, and the wife liked them enough to bring them home, and they work with what you're trying to achieve in the tiki-bar then why not try and cut a better deal? |
I have a hard time asking for a discount.
Makes me feel like I’m trying to pull a fast one on them. The plan was to paint them black, which I felt was worth the effort if they were leather. |
There is a class action against Target....
https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/775286-target-class-action-says-leather-furniture-falsely-advertised/ I'd say you could give the store a choice. You get a full refund and get to keep the chairs or you send the info. to the state agency that handles Implied Warranties of Merchantability and Fitness For A Particular Purpose. |

Update.
I called the consignment shop and spoke to a sales lady and explained my situation. I could tell by the tone in her voice that at times she was holding back her laughter. Told me the manager would call me. Manager calls me and was quite flippant. Tells me they mid century vinyl classic bar stools and worth much more than leather. I could barely get any words in as this beotch is flapping her lips. Tells me to send her and email and she will pass it on to the owner, but policy is no returns. Like I don't have enough problems without this s##t. lol |
It does appear there were purchased at a second-hand shop.
If they have a sign saying no returns then that's it. At this point chalk it up to experience. Sell them on Craigslist - "Excellent condition mid-century bar stools". Charge double what you paid. |
Put that on a CC?
Chargeback, this is fraud. rjp |
They are labeled as something that they are not. A refund is in order.

could be jackalopehide. pretty rare

These items were clearly labeled as leather, but they’re actually vinyl. You deserve some recompense. If they’re not willing to step up, you should at least slam them on social media, and maybe you’ll help keep someone else from getting screwed. |
Yes it says on the bill "no returns".
Maybe they think if they can put that on there so they can do whatever the f##k they want? The flippant attitude of both sales people really got my goat. Wait. Maybe it's goat? |
Only one thing matters... Do you like the chairs?
|
Those look to be barstools made by the Henderson furniture company in Quebec, Canada. I’m fairly sure that the upholstery material is probably original, as I’ve seen that color used on other products they made and they did use vinyl. Given that, these chairs do have a bit of a following and they are more valuable if they are completely original.
My advice is simple. If you like the looks of them, keep them and leave them alone. They were misrepresented, obviously they were tagged by someone that knows nothing about furniture materials but that is what that company used on those chairs, so… |
