That’s a tough one Bob, too many things to consider. Take a look in the dictionary under “Luckiest Bastard,” You’ll see my photo.
Going into Thanksgiving 2021, I would also say “Health.” My 10 year old son, wife, mother-in-law, and I all contracted Novel Coronavirus three weeks ago. We’re all recovered now, but receiving the news your 10 year old boy has a virus that killed his grandfather a year ago is pretty scary. Father-in-Law got it while a patient in a NJ nursing home. My son likely got it at school and shared it with us. Stay healthy gang

That list is the only one longer than the "What are you working on" thread...……...

I'm thankful for my 84 year old FIL (who is now on Hospice). He helped my wife and I with many projects around our house, and taught me how to properly use lots of different tools, and was always the one my wife called when she needed help on anything.
Unfortunately he has been on the decline all Summer, topped off by getting Covid/Mersa in October. He has been fighting the good fight, but will most likely succumb within a day, or two from now. It kind of puts a foggy damper on Thanksgiving, but we soldier ahead knowing it's inevitable. |

So very thankful that our kids are doing so well, and that my son (who turned me on to 944's) and his wife, who live in Pittsburgh, have just closed on a winterized cabin close by us, with their plan of spending more time in our neck of the woods. Can't wait!

Lots of sad replies here gents.
I wonder what we would have said 10 years ago? The flock is getting old.

Thankful that I have a healthy and loving family, a good dog and a comfortable home. I really can't complain about anything, I've got it pretty darn good.

Thankful for have the great luck to be born in this country in this era. I was lucky has hell to have two parents that always loved me, I never even considered it possible that I would not have a safe, warm bed to sleep in, and a full stomach, never had to worry about getting a beating or any form of abuse from my parents.
To live in a very comfortable house, own cars I like, and a owning a business that makes me more than enough money to pay all the bills, and put cash in my pocket. A wife that loves me, and the perfect wife for me. Good health, and a brain that still functions. And an adequate supply of Erdinger Dunkle beer, the best beer on the planet in my opinion. It was hard to get for a long period, but it is back on the shelf.

I have sooo much to be thankful for!
Health being way up the list, with that blessing I'm more able to follow my heart and go see the great outdoors and do the things I love. Very thankful for my adventurous, faithful wife, a Son that's grown into a very good and decent man who stay's in touch and visits when he can. Being where I am at this juncture, comfortable and well fed, I really lack nothing except to start reaching out and volunteering again. So many don't enjoy the level of freedom and opportunity I do, I'd like to have some positive impact on that as a wish/plan for 2022. I wish you all good fortune! And a Happy Thanksgiving!

Your FIL sounds like a great man. Same age as my father and his decline has started as well. My thoughts go out to you and your wife. |

I am an educated professional American white male in the 21st Century. In generally good health all my life. A bit on the intelligent side, some say. Set to retire in June with healthy finances. Tall, muscular, athletic. Raised in a small town. Born to great parents. Four amazing sisters. No quarreling between us. Prone to notice the funny side of life. Confident. Finally found a GREAT woman who loves me, inexplicably.
I may be nearly the luckiest organism in the history of the Universe.

Given that my faith in human kind would barely fill a spoon I'm thankful that I'm surrounded with family that always has my six.
