I'm just saying in a kind Christmasy way that the MB would be a gigantic, expensive, excruciating PITA across all the time it was owned.

Back in the day I also had a 1960 Mercedes Benz 220sb . It was black with red interior with a straight six and four speed manual on the column . I remember it was a smooth runner and quite comfortable . Had a wood dash .

My preference would be a 2-door
!962 year. The Virgil Exner design - He tried to add a European flair to the car. Different looking. Stay with the slant 6. !964 - 65. 2 door post car. More conservative design. I would stuff a small block Mopar V8 in it. Be a nice sleeper.

I once drove a Plymouth Valiant slant 6 with push button transmission back in the 1960's. Pretty boring ride but dependable. Strange choice of cars in that the three are so different. Mercedes is nice though.

I learned to drive a manual in 1980 in a car very, very similar to this.
1967 250S, straight 6 cyl, 4-speed on the floor, no a/c, no fluff, no power steering or windows, just a basic solid rig.

Your thread title said mid 60s sedan, so 4-door, right? Are you open to other cars than what's on your list of three?

The American sedans from the 60s havn't gotten silly valuable yet and I don't want anything that I'll have a hard time finding parts. |

One guys experience doesn't translate to all, but, I had a 73 280S six cylinder. It had been sitting since 1982 when I bought it (2015?). It had a transmission issue. I found a transmission for four hundred dollars. Dropped that in, changed the the engine fluids, plugs and wires, new gas, it fired right up. With the exception of needing a carb rebuild, it ran like a Swiss watch. I think those Benz straight sixes a pretty bullet proof?

Buicks?
Don't know why but these family cars are worth big $$$. Really liked the lines. I know the ops is looking at three specific makes, just throwing out a nudge he-he.
