Great Martin book here. I picked a copy up a few weeks ago. It’s like a scrap book with little things in pockets, like repro pre war catalogs and hang tags. Pretty fun and interesting. I’ll be a Martin owner soon so I got it to get psyched up

Good choice.
If you're ever in the area the Martin factory tour is a must.
My D18 i've owned for 43 years.

I’ve been thinking about replacing a guitar that was loaned out and sold for drug money by an ex-stepson. It was a Taylor that I traded my little Martin New Yorker that my parents gave me for sticking with my guitar lessons around 1967. It bugs me to have that piece missing and this thread had me thinking. Going to a guitar shop pushed me over the edge and I’m getting something similar to HardDrive’s.

What are you going to get?

Steve, (forum won’t let me quote for some reason)

I want the 000-28EC Eric Clapton. Not because it’s a signature model but because 1) never owned a Martin and I want one 2) I don’t have a rosewood body 3) it has all the features I want. 3) it’s versatile

I have always been interested in the smaller body acoustics. Having now tried one, I’ve fallen in love with the comfort, scale length etc. Another Dread size guitar isn’t really needed by me otherwise I would buy a D-18 or 28

The Mark Knophler sig is perfect to me but NLA as new and prices are too high used for me

Sorry about your loss. I say replace it with something you love asap

Here’s my corner of the house. Signal is split to 4 amps.

probably beyond a hobby for sure and im thankful for it because i have never been at a loss for something to do and if i wanted, could have a new challenge/learning experience every day of the year

for those of you in a slump or learning, besides youtube, Truefire courses have changed my playing life tremendously. Wish I had that as a kid

I’ll check out Truefire for sure. My skills are near zero right now, hopefully it’ll be a little like riding a bicycle. I want to incorporate music theory this time and work harder to improve this time.

They have courses at all skill levels, styles etc.... The avg price of a course is about $40. Still, I highly recommended them. Also, they have yearly all access passes for a few hundred $.

for a theory type class, look up "caged method" courses. there's a few of them

Trying to get a nice picture of my new bass

Tough to get a decent picture of this beautiful bass. This doesn't do justice to the beautiful work that David did. He painted the Lake Placid Blue on the body and it's perfect!
